LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Zac Efron is not dating Taylor Schilling; Efron and Schilling are reportedly getting “chummy”, but Efron fans aren’t believing anything more than that is happening off set.

Is this just a publicity machine at work promoting another Efron-flick? Online reaction thinks so.

“The Lucky One” is a Warner Brothers adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ novel featuring Efron and Schilling. The film is produced by Denise DiNovi.

Next year will be busy for Efron, who will remain at Warners for a series of upcoming film projects. Efron will produce the English remake of the Swedish hit Snabba Cash (Easy Money). Efron is also producing Art of the Steal. The thriller is written by Max Borenstein and includes Jason Barrett, Kevin McCormick and David Klawans.

Is Zac getting married soon? “I’m definitely not getting married. In this business, you’re either getting married or they want you to be pregnant” said Efron once.

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens break up news today was sudden, unexpected, and disappointing for fans. Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens’ break up was not the result of another person nor a disagreement. Young Hollywood’s “it” couple confirmed they simply drifted apart.

Ironically, their individual careers had done the same.

While Efron’s career is on fire, with countless movies lined up and even producing deals, Hudgens’ career hasn’t been as stellar. The couple that fell in love on High School Musical in 2006 now say its time to dance to a different beat.

She’s 22, he’s 23. But for LALATE readers, Hudgens and Efron were along with Kim Kardashian, Reggie Bush, Clay Aiken, and Chris Brown were the original top six celebrities back in 2007 that dominated celebrity news reports.

But along the way, some of the news interviews were peculiar Efron had told news he didn’t want to get married. In 2008, and in 2009, the couple defended against false reports that they were engaged. But Efron told GQ Magazine in 2009 that he’s not getting married in 2009, or anytime soon.

“I’m definitely not getting married. In this business, you’re either getting married or they want you to be pregnant.”

WAILEA, Hawaii – Zac Efron will take top honors at the Maui Film Festival. The Maui Film Festival says Zac Efron will receive its Shining Star Award when the festival is held later this month.

Barry Rivers, festival head, announced today that Zac Efron’s career is consistent with the festival’s theme this year -”Trust the Future”. Rivers calls Zac Efron a “is an exemplary shining star”.

Bravo.

Efron will be on hand to accept the award. The Festival says Efron will receive the honor during its opening night on June 16 2010.

For the suit, Zac went with a simple two button black tux with a narrow tie. Again the look is simple but fits Efron.

For Efron this 2010 Oscar look continues a trend to be classic yet contemporary.

Efron is currently working on “Charlie St. Cloud,” scheduled to be released later this year.  His other film credits include “Hairspray,” “High School Musical 3: Senior Year,” “17 Again” and “Me and Orson Welles.”

Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron in Spider-Man?! Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron in Spider-Man are dominating Zanessa reports today.

Zac Efron as Spiderman and Vanessa Hudgens as his love interest Mary Jane Watson are being splashed across British press Monday in what can be described as one of the biggest Zanessa stories, arguably ever, if true.

Hudgens’ movie career has been lukewarm since the HSM franchise, and neither have reunited on screen since that exit. But Efron has reportedly been tapped to replace Tobey Maguire and Hudgens being pursued to come on board.

British OK! Magazine reports that Maguire recently suggested the young Hollywood stars to take over his role after his exit. The movie is on a mission critical time schedule, set for theatres in 2012 and to begin principal photography this year.

The film, a Universal project, is set to undergo a revitalization for a new generation since Tobey’s exit at age 34. LALATE would contend the deal if true would have to be a three picture option, and hence put Zanessa into the boxoffice front and center for the major part of this decade, if inked.

With Hudgens, 21, and Efron, 22, at the helm of Spider-Man, it could bring the couple’s biggest pay day ever.
