Altered Mug Shots in Photoshop Anger Greek Officials

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A series of altered mug shots, changed in Photoshop, is angering Greek officials. A massive investigation into the altered mugshots is now underway. Local police made the bold move to modify mug shots of arrested citizens after local news had already photographed the citizens moments earlier.
The shocker erupted last Friday after a series of young men twenty-five years or younger were allegedly beaten by Greek police. The young men were allegedly protesting local civil rights at the time
Local news dispatched to the protest scene and quickly photographed the men. In one case, a man was photographed by news with a large bruise underneath his left eye.
When his mugshot photo (picture above) was released to news, however, that bruise from the alleged police beating was gone, photoshopped out. Investigators claim that police photoshopped out several injuries to victims’ faces after their mugshots were taken.
Even more outrageous, Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias defended the decision to photoshop the pictures. “Photoshop was used and I – just like you, just like any reasonable person – asked why was this done?” He claims that mug shots can be photoshopped so that the public can identify the men in the future.
He also told local news “Because if they hadn’t been Photoshopped, in order to make them resemble an image that the average person would recognize them in, then the photos wouldn’t have been published in the first place.”
