Britney Spears wins at the VMAs! Britney Spears had never won a VMA. Tonight, Spears wins VMAs for Piece of Me, taking female video of the year and pop video of the year.

The music video of Piece of Me was not without trouble back when it was recorded. LALATE readers will remember the anticipation that went into the shooting of the video and the rumors that plagued that video. Even chatter said Spears was unhappy with the dance routines in the video. But tonight it didn’t matter with Spears’ big wins.

Chris Brown won male video of the year for “With You,” Pussycat Dolls won best dancing in a video with “When I Grow Up”.

Other winners:
Linkin Park best rock video for “Shadow of the Day.”
Lil Wayne best hip-hop video for “Lollipop”

VIDEO! Watch video of Rihanna at the VMAs’ 2008 with “Disturbia”. Rihanna’s performance of Disturbia for the VMAs was amazing.

If you don’t know, Disturbia was first written by Chris Brown and songwriting group Graffiti Artizts. Disturbia was intended for Brown’s EXCLUSIVE but he thought it was better for Rihanna. Def Jam thought it would be best on RiRi’s album for 2009. But Rihanna’s people thought it needed to be released as a summer single. 

They were right.

In the U.S. Disturbia has been a billboard number 1 hit. It’s critical acclaim is well deserved.

VIDEO! Watch video of the Jonas Brothers “Love Bug”! The onas Brothers chose “Love Bug” for the VMAs 2008 performance tonight. And it was great!

The Jonas Brothers performed Love Bug on a brownstone New York City steps on the Paramount Lot. Jonas wore gray pants with matching vests, with white dress shirts; Joe added in a tie. The look was great and fit the backdrop of the brownstone steps perfectly.

While the Palms was interesting for the MTV VMAs in 2007, Paramount Studios this year has so much more to offer.
