LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Virginia Valdez (mugshot photo above) has been charged in a Lorena Bobbitt-Like case. Virginia Valdez is charged with allegedly attempting to cut off her husband’s male anatomy with scissors. She reported didn’t succeed but her husband did suffer some skin injuries; he was released hours later from a local hospital. Catherine Kieu Becker, Zainab Bibi, and Omaima Aree Nelson are women who had been either accused of convicted of dismembering their husbands. Today, yet another woman was added to the growing list.
Virginia Valdez is 67 years old. She remains in custody on $100,000 bond. She is charged with mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon and spousal abuse. The attack happened Saturday night in the 1700 block of Rochelle Road of Palm Springs.
Sergeant Melissa Desmarais tells news “Officers made contact with a 62-year-old male victim who reported that his wife had attempted to sever his * with scissors, resulting in injuries to the area.” He added “The weapon was recovered from the scene and the investigation remains ongoing at this point.”
The couple have been married for thirty-two years but have been recently feuding. The scissors were reportedly menacing. Sergeant Kyle Stjerne tells news that “They were more heavy duty than the standard office scissors.”
On June 23, 1993, John Wayne Bobbitt was laying asleep when wife Lorena got out of bed, and went to the kitchen for a drink of water. She then grabbed a carving knife in the kitchen, returned to the bed, and cut off half of Bobbitt’s manhood. John Wayne Bobbitt survived his injuries, his body part was surgically reattached.
Doctors were unable to do the same for Catherine Kieu Becker’s husband. Becker allegedly told her friends that “he deserved it”. Catherine Kieu Becker in July was arrested, charged with torture and aggravated mayhem. Police claim that she poisoned her husband’s dinner. After being served an entree of tofu for dinner on July 11, she allegedly cut off his manhood in “celebration” with a 10 inch kitchen knife. She then put it in the garbage disposal, and pressed “on”.
Just last month, Zainab Bibi was accused of killing her husband and then cooking his body parts. She allegedly confessed to the crime after he allegedly told authorities that he wanted to bed their daughter. “I killed my husband before he dared to touch my daughter,” she told ARY News.
Also in November, Omaima Aree Nelson made news when she was denied parole for killing, cooking, and eating her husband years earlier. When asked why she did it, Omaima said prior to trial “Nothing tastes as good as the man I married. It’s the sauce that does it.” She admitting to even dipping his ribs in barbeque sauce.
