LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Tamar and Vince, the new WeTV reality show with Tamar Braxton and Vincent Herbert, seeks a ratings jump in its second week as it finally moves to its regular time slot. WeTV surprised news and fans by choosing to debut Tamar and Vince last week one hour later. The network spent months of promotion on its new spinoff series about Braxton and her new album, bringing back Braxton Family Values for a mini summer season to help. But then, WeTV pushed Tamar back one hour later.
The result did not prove fruitful. The debut ratings for Tamar and Vince, while strong, were nothing like previous season debuts of Braxton Family Values. But tonight, Tamar and Vince finally move into their regular time slot. Will more viewers tune in?
Tamar is back acting up again tonight, a mixture of over-the-top bickering with her husband Vince about everything from their dog to her music. Her delivery, however, is one that has resonated well with BFV fans. But will Tamar’s unique on screen personality, even for reality TV, bring in more viewers than BFV fosters, or just hold existence BFV viewers?
One exchange between Tamar and Vince is about her speaking in third person and Vince’s speaking to the dog. “You start talking to the dog, I’m checking you in!” Tamar shouts at Vince. “You talk to yourself in third party”, Vince replies. “I can certainly talk to myself in third person if you are talking to your dog” replies Tamar. “I am going to talk to my dog if you are talking about yourself in third party. Because Miracle is a human being.”
Vince also has a few strange exchanges about Miracle compared to Tamar. “Miracle is my best friend…. you are my everything, but Miracle is my dog.” During another exchange he fumes “People are already mad at you. They call you a gold digger.”
It remains unclear who is in the editing booth for T&V compared BFV. While BFV has its share of bickering, it also showed a unique love between a family that works things out. Promotional clips for T&V, however, just shows a couple shouting, around the clock. In fact, virtually every promo clip for tonight’s episode shows bickering, shouting, disagreements, and feuding. “Since you don’t want to listen and cooperate, you are fired and I quit”, Vince shouts in another scene.
Fans are already bothered by the shows constant use of bickering to further the storyline. One fan commented that Tamar’s antics aren’t going to last, at least not for Vince. “Tamar really is going to lose a great man if she keeps it up.. I can see it now!” Another noted that the bickering is already too overboard. “He’s throwing that card too much first he said something like she should be happy that he’s waking up next to her and now he says he’s going to find someone? Seems fishy to me.” The show returns tonight on WETV.
