CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – Who is the Nuestra Belleza Latina 2012 ganadora? The Nuestra Belleza Latina 2011 ganadora will be revealed in results for tonight’s May 20, 2012 finale, en vivo on Univision. But as news critics and fans battle over predictions between Nataliz Jiménez, Vanessa de Roide, Karol Scott, and Setareh Khatibi, patronage from four countries will be strong. For the first time in recent years, four exceptionally competitive countries are in the finals. Jiménez is representing Dominican Republic, de Roide heralds from Puerto Rico, Scott represents Venezuela, and Khatibi is from Mexico.
A year ago this time, LALATE reported news that a favored country had been eliminated, a formerly eliminated contestant could win, and ratings records could be broken. But this season hasn’t been as shocking. Earlier this year, LALATE first gave its prediction, that Nataliz Jiménez would win this season. But many news analysts are expecting a shocker tonight. ¿Quién es la ganadora de Nuestra Belleza Latina 2012? Tonight, fans will finally learn the answer.
Last week, Mexican and Puerto Rican fans watched as Fanny Vargas and Shalimar Rivera were eliminated in the semifinals. In voting results last week, Karol Scott shocked news, landing in the bottom two for public voting. Kathibi also surprised news, ending in the bottom two for the jury determination, only to survive with Vargaas eliminated.
But coming into tonight’s telecast, Nataliz Jiménez, Vanessa de Roide, Karol Scott, and Setareh Khatibi all know that scoring has been close. Since April 8, Scott has won three of five weeks in scoring, de Roid has won another. Last week, de Roide and Scott ended tied with twenty-seven points, with Nataliz and Setareh earning twenty-two and twenty-five points respectively.
Tonight’s win will be big, not just for the participant, but also her country and her network. Since the show debuted, the prize has grown to a quarter million dollars. Last year’s winner got a Univision contract, and an appearance at the Premios Juventud. This year, she gets the cash price, an appearance in People en Español magazine’s 50 most beautiful people, and a spot on El Gordo y la Flaca.
Since the series debuted in 2007, Mexico has won the title twice. Puerto Rico, Cuba and Nicaragua (with Nastassja Bolivar last year) have won the other years. But tonight, in what is expected to be a ratings smash for Univision, judges Osmel Sousa, Lupita Jones, and Julian Gil along with Giselle Blondet will announce who will become the network’s Nuestra Belleza Latina 2012 for season six.
