But, tonight Velasquez couldn’t hold off Dos Santos for even a single round. This evening, there is a new heavyweight champion after Dos Santos knocked out Velasquez in the first round.

Honda Center erupted as the main event emerged before a packed house tonight. It was also the debut of a major new platform for UFC. UFC on FOX Results Prompt Early Surprises

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Initial results for “UFC on Fox” have already prompted surprises. Tonight’s UFC on Fox is being aired via live streaming video on Facebook.com this afternoon. Later rounds will air on Foxsports.com and FOX this evening. What is the start time for UFC on FOX 1? After eight preliminary bouts are shown online, Clay Guida and Ben Henderson will battle at 9 PM EST on FOX followed by Cain Velasquez facing contender Junior Dos Santos.

In early results tonight, Aaron Rosa surprised news with a defeat of Matt Lucas. After a close fight, one judge scored it a 28-28; the other two giving the fight to Rosa 30-26.

Tonight’s preliminary bouts feature Pablo Garza battling Dustin Poirier and Ricardo Lamas facing Cub Swanson. Also shown online today are Clay Harvsion vs. DaMarques Johnson, Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto taking on Darren Uyenoyama, and Robert Peralta battling Mackens Semerzier. The Honda Center today is the host of UFC on FOX with Paul Bradley vs. Mike Pierce currently underway, followed by Alex Caceres vs. Cole Escovedo. For preliminary fights on Facebook, click HERE to watch.

Tonight’s UFC on Fox is the result of a mammoth deal inked between the MMA giant and the network in August this year. The deal will deliver four UFC on FOX events per year. In addition, six UFC on FX fights will be aired to a subscriber base of roughly one hundred thousand homes annually. Ultimate Fighter will also move to FX in a new live format. TUF will include both live and taped segments and will are over a 12 week period on Friday nights.

The news was announced by CEO David Hill, FOX Sports media group co-president and COO Eric Shanks, FX president John Landgraf, UFC president Dana White, and Zuffa chairman Lorenzo Fertitta. None of the parties would confirm the financial terms. But news reports put the deal worth more than $90 million in broadcast fees to UFC per year.

Overall, fans will get annually 26 TUF Fights on FX, 6 UFC Fight Night on FX fights, and 4 UFC on FOX events. Other UFC Fox fights will start in January next year. But is that much UFC saturation for fans? That remains to be seen.
