On myspace, Nguyen had days ago changed her profile to read “TILA TEQUILA IS IN SAN DIEGO”. Before that, on August 27 she said she just returned to U.S. from work overseas.

“As some of you may already know, I have been traveling across the world for the past month or so! So I apologize if I haven’t been around, but never fear!”

On Saturday, Nguyen and Merriman had twittered about Sports Fan at Mission Valley. First Merriman gave an open tweet on Saturday:

“Im on my way to the sports fan in mission valley be there from 2pm to 3 30 see you there”

He doesn’t state who the “you” is. But Tequila responds:

“# RT @shawnemerriman Im on my way to the sports fan in mission valley be there from 2pm to 3 30 see you there<===Gooooo youuu! =)about 22 hours ago from web”

By approximately 1 am Sunday, Nguyen was photographed being “friendly” with Merriman at San Diego nightclub Stingaree.

By 3:45 am, the two were at Merriman’s home, north in the town of Poway when Nguyen called law enforcement. A statement from San Diego Sheriff’s Department Sunday then explains:

“Deputies responded to a disturbance call from a woman who claimed to have been choked and restrained by a male. Upon arrival at 12000 block of Sage Crest Drive in Poway, the reporting party identified herself as Tila Nguyen, aka Tila Tequila, and her alleged assailant as Shawne Merriman.“Nguyen told deputies she had been choked and physically restrained by Merriman when she attempted to leave his residence. Nyguen signed a citizen’s arrest at the scene, charging Merriman with battery and false imprisonment.“Nguyen was transported to Pomerado Hospital and Merriman was taken into custody by Sheriff’s deputies.”

The San Diego Chargers then issued the following statement:

“It’s disappointing to hear about the issue involving Shawne Merriman. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and let the legal process run its course.”

Sunday Merriman’s lawyer denies the allegations, says Tila was “extremely inebriated”, and was stopped from leaving for her own safety.

Then Merriman told FoxSports.com that Tila was “intoxicated”:

“On September 6, 2009 the San Diego Sheriff’s Department responded to a citizen’s complaint that was initiated by Tila Nguyen (aka Tila Tequila). I was taken into custody based upon that complaint. At the time, I was concerned about her welfare given the intoxicated state she appeared to be in and I encouraged her to stay until safe transportation could be provided.

“We would all do our best to help a friend if we considered their actions to be detrimental to their personal safety. I in no way caused any harm to Ms. Nguyen, however, paramedics were called and she was examined but no injuries were reported. She was released and has since returned to Los Angeles, California.

“There have been no charges filed against me. I want to thank the San Diego Sheriff’s Department for their professionalism. I will continue to cooperate fully with the Department, and I look forward to clearing my name regarding these false allegations. I want to put this behind me so I can continue to focus on a successful season for the San Diego Chargers.”

Tila Nguyen Shawne Merriman!

Shawne Merriman is speaking out about the Tila (Tequila) Nguyen incident Sunday. Shawne Merriman says in the Tila Nguyen incident he has not been charged and that Nguyen was drunk

Nguyen says she wasn’t and doesn’t drink.

Merriman tells FoxSports.com that Tila was unsafe to leave his home and that’s why he reacting as he did:

“On September 6, 2009 the San Diego Sheriff’s Department responded to a citizen’s complaint that was initiated by Tila Nguyen (aka Tila Tequila). I was taken into custody based upon that complaint. Nguyen says she hadn’t been drinking:

“I am allergic to alcohol. It has been publicly known for years. That is how I got the name Tila “Tequila” cuz the irony. I cant drink”

Tila Nguyen Details!

New details in the Tila Tequila Nguyen Shawne Merriman incident from Sunday are in. While Shawne Merriman’s rep has commented about Tila Nguyen’s claims, Myspace queen Nguuyen has yet to issue a statement. Plus further details from law enforcement have been released.

Tila Tequila Nguyen Update!

UPDATE - Tila Tequila Nguyen has been released from Pomerado Hospital following an alleged attack by Shawne Merriman Sunday. Tila Tequila Nguyen took to Myspace days ago to change her profile screenname to read “TILA TEQUILA IS IN SAN DIEGO”.

Where in San Diego, home to Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman, Tila had been in recent days is not clear.

Before that, Tila’s last myspace post on August 27 said she had just arrived back to the United States:

NBC San Diego has already on its website Sunday stated the alleged event occurred at “a home on Sage Crest Drive in Poway.” Public Information Officer Jan Caldwell in a statement today said the following:

“Nguyen told deputies she had been choked and physically restrained by Merriman when she attempted to leave his residence.”

Merriman and Tila had twittered about Sports Fan at Mission Valley prior to Merriman’s arrest. Merriman gave an open tweet on Saturday:
