LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Joey Porter has been set free after an arrest last weekend. Joey Porter was set free on Christmas Eve, officials tell news, after been arrested for allegedly writing bad checks. Porter was arrested pursuant to a warrant out of Las Vegas. Porter had allegedly wrote a bad check for $70,000 to the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas. So, to get of jail on Monday, Porter had to reportedly write a (good) check for that same amount to the hotel.
Joey Porter was taken in by police on Friday night. A warrant had been issued for his arrest out of Clark Count, Nevada. At issue was a check he wrote with allegedly insufficient funds. On Friday, that warrant was effectuated during a routine traffic stop, not in Nevada, but in Bakersfield.
Porter was stopped for a traffic ticket shortly after 9:46 pm Friday night. But during a quick check, officers released that Porter a warrant against him. Lt. Scott Tunnicliffe of the Bakersfield Police Department told news that Porter was taken in on Friday by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office and held through Sunday.
The check at issue was reportedly a payment of $70,000 to the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas. The theft and bad check complaint was filed earlier this year. Prosecutor Samuel Bateman in Las Vegas tells news that Porter paid the amount over the weekend. His charges will reportedly be dropped.
