Senator Ted Kennedy had a seizure during the post Inauguration Obama luncheon. Concerns for Ted Kennedy’s seizure following the inauguration is coming in from John Kerry, Chris Dodd, and Senator Hatch who all escorted Kennedy out promptly.
Senator Byrd’s office has confirmed Byrd is now fine.
No official statement has confirmed Kennedy’s event was a seizure but it is being described by Senators at the luncheon as such.
Obama said about the Kennedy seizure:
“First of all, I know that while I was out of the room, concern was expressed about Teddy. He was there when the Voting Rights Act passed. And, along with John Lewis, was a warrior for justice. And so I would be lying to you if I did not say that right now a part of me is with him. And I think that’s true for all of us. This is a joyous time, but it’s also a sobering time. And my prayers are with him and his family and [his wife] Vicki.”
Ted Kennedy has just had a seizure. Ted Kennedy had a seizure at the Obama 2009 breakfast after the inauguration moments ago. Senator John Carey’s wife reportedly assisted Kennedy after the seizure.
Ted Kennedy had reportedly been in improving health the past few months and staying on the Cape.

Ted Kennedy returned to the Senate today. Ted Kennedy’s Senate return today was all smiles today from family, staff, and friends.
Kennedy had undergone successful brain surgery earlier this year for a tumor.
Kennedy issued the following statement upon his Senate return today:
“It’s good to be back in the Senate. I am particularly looking forward to seeing my staff and my colleagues and to working in the current brief session on a realistic new stimulus package to help our fellow Americans who are suffering in this economic crisis.
“I will also continue to lay the ground work for early action by Congress on health reform when President Obama takes office in January. We’ve been making real progress in our discussions about a consensus approach, and I’m optimistic we’ll succeed.
“I am grateful for the prayers and good wishes I’ve received over the past several months. They have certainly lifted my spirits, as has the election of Barack Obama as our 44th President.”
Ted Kennedy WILL appear at DNC Convention, and may even speak. Kennedy, being treated for a malignant brain tumor, will appear at the opening of the Democratic National Convention. Kennedy’s addition was just announced within the hour.
Kennedy is already in Denver and even got the green light from a local hospital in Denver late yesterday.
Ted Kennedy’s spokeswoman said of America’s nonpartisan concern for his fight with cancer: “He’s truly humbled by the outpouring of support and wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world”.
