From myspace photos, to Marni Phillips’ reaction, Brooke Hundley said people were too quick to judge her. Really? In fact the Brooke Hundley story became one of the longest running, most detailed, affairs of 2009.

Steve Phillips would loose his job, loose his marriage, all for an affair Phillips claimed was short.

But Brooke Hundley says she’s the victim: “I think people are so quick to make a judgment, it’s almost like ‘here’s a great story. Here’s a great chance for me to … destroy a person’ without any sense of really thinking about the fact that there’s a human being behind those words. I’ve been called things by the public that no woman should ever be called. … I’ve been called a home wrecker.”

Eventually Phillips would enter a treatment facility. Steve Phillips’ rep would confirm “is voluntarily admitting himself to an in patient treatment facility to address his personal issues.”

Hundley said of Marni Phillips’ 911 call during today’s interview:

“The same fear that I heard in her voice was similar fear to how I had felt. And I would never have wanted anybody else to feel, or to go through what I was going through.”

Back in August this year, Phillips’ wife Marni said she was very concerned for the safety of her and her children.

“On Sunday August 16 my husband called me from Atlanta and told me to brace myself because she was threatening to call me and disclose intimate details of their affair. .. The tone of the text message [she sent] was “I care about Steve, I make him happy and we both can’t have him”. “

“At this point I began to feel a heightened sense of vulnerability as this woman was aware of my husband’s rigorous travel schedule. I was unable to sleep. I paced the perimeter of my house, constantly checking the safety of my sons.“

Marni Phillips added:

“Needless to say, as a mother with four young sons, I am terrified. I fear greatly for the safety and well being of my sons and for myself. … I am currently pursuing drastic and costly security precautions such as hiring an off duty Wilton Police officer to stand guard. “

Before the Brooke Hundley Steve Phillips affair broke here on Wednesday morning, the affair scandals of Rick Pitino and David Letterman seemed to be the end of the major mistress stories for 2009. So we all thought.

Phillips stressed to law enforcement in his statement that he had a “total of three .. encounters with her” “over a three week span”. And if that time frame is not specific enough for you, Phillips limited it further “those were the only three times I spent any time alone with her.”

Only three times? Those three times have no wcost Steve Philips his job (fired by ESPN Sunday) and his marriage (his wife filing for divorce).

A handwritten document by Hundley read “Steve brought me a strong drink and then cornered me with coming out of the bathroom with no one in sight trying to persuade me to come to his hotel suite to spend the night.”.

“Finally I gave in and agreed to see him a few times in parking lots .. then he began to spread word that i was just the office sl –t “

Following the affair, Phillips said: “I am deeply sorry that I have put my family and colleagues through this. It is a personal matter that I will not comment on further.” He did comment further, admitting he entered a treatment facility for his personal issue.

ESPN said they took care of Phillips’ conduct. “We were aware of this and took appropriate discipline at the time.” Obviously not enough discipline. Phillips would be fired last Sunday.

But as news of ESPN firing Steve Phillips surfaced Sunday, the obvious question remained unanswered – whatever happened to Hundley at ESPN? And what was Hundley’s employment situation during the entire scandal before it became public?

The Phillips’ son had accused Brooke Hundley with fake pics and a false identity of contacting him on Facebook and AOL.com AIM to obtain information about Phillips. Steve Phillips’ wife had said she had received a letter from Brooke Hundley that started with a “Hi Marni” line, only to proceed into the bizarre alleged details between the production assistant and the baseball analyst.

We may never know when ESPN first learned about the Hundley Phillips affair. America learned about it last Wednesday whereas law enforcement knew about it since August 2009.

Steve Philips’ statement to investigators included the following:

“I met Brooke Hundley for the first time on July 13th in St Louis, MO. She is a production assistant for remote game productions for ESPN. For the first time I met her in St Louis over a three week span I had a total of three … encounters with her. Those were the only three times I spent any time alone with her.“

While “only three times” was the phrase Phillips stressed then, today the story is much different, with Phillips seeking treatment for his “issues”. Shortly after the story broke, Phillips gave a statement that he was not going to comment on the matter since it was a “personal matter.” “I am deeply sorry that I have put my family and colleagues through this. It is a personal matter that I will not comment on further.” That changed Sunday, when Phillips’ rep said he is seeking treatment for his “personal issues”. His rep says Sunday said Steve Phillips “is voluntarily admitting himself to an in patient treatment facility to address his personal issues.”

Phillips had also said in his original statement against Hundley:

“On Monday August 17 while I was in LA I received a text from Brooke Hundley apologizing for what she done on Sunday and wishing that I wouldn’t ignore her so she could explain her actions. Later on Monday I got a text that said “I sincerely hope you have a great show”. The extreme swing of her emotions and communications were very alarming. I did not respond to her text in any way.”

Why Marni Phillips didn’t divorce Steve Phillips in the 1990s is not clear. But now 11 years later, she is finally do it.

Not only did Steve Phillips’ ESPN affair cause terror to his wife, it did so for at least his teenage son who was stalked allegedly by Brooke Hundley, on Facebook and AOL.com instant messaging.

A police incident report details what Steve’s son endured:

“He went on to explain that on 8/19/09 after the incident in the driveway with his mother and Brooke he received another instant message from Riotgirr4life. The message explained that she had gone to their house to see how nice it was and got scared when his mother pulled into the driveway. She panicked and accidentally hit her car into the stone pillar in the driveway…. [He] explained that at that point he knew that this was not .. and must be Brooke. He did not answer her and blocked her account. He then added that this whole thing made him suspicious and he noticed that he actually had two …. accounts on his Facebook.com page. He then realized the second one appeared to be a falsified page created by someone. He noticed that the account actually had no information on it and that he was the only friend listed on her page. He felt that Brooke actually took the identity of … to obtain access to his Facebook page. “
