Benfica vs Chelsea Score Winner To Head to Super Cup 2013 en vivo live score results today

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The winner of the Benfica vs Chelsea 2013 soccer game today (live score results below) will not only walk away with the UEFA Europa League championship title. It will also get a slot to compete in August’s UEFA Super Cup, officials remind news. This year’s Super Cup is making history for being held for the first time outside of Stade Louis II in Monaco since 1988. And unlike the semifinals and quarterfinals, today’s game is one legged as will be the Super Cup finals, officials remind news.

Today’s Benfica vs Chelsea game (start time 11:45 am PST) features a lineup that some would not have expected back in the group stage. But what are predictions stating about today’s game? A quick perusal of the final standings from the Champions League Group G and E standings reveals that neither team dominated early scoring results in this league. In fact, both teams barely qualified to the knockout phase round of thirty-two.

Back in Group C, Benfica earned a mere eight points with two wins, two draws and two loses. Its record put the team in third place behind Barcelona and Celtic. In fact, Barcelona had finished first in the group with thirteen points compared to Benfica’s mere eight points.

Over in Group E, the situation wasn’t as dramatic. There, Chelsea finished in third place as well. But it picked up ten points compared to first place Juventus’ twelve points. Chelsea advanced out of the group division with three wins, one draw and two loses, officials reminded news.

For now, predictions by news analysts are noting the higher aggregate spread picked up by Chelsea in the semifinals and quarterfinals compared to Benfica. Benfica had only a two point difference in the quarters, and a single goal difference in the semis. But Chelsea advanced out of the semis with a three goal difference.

Meantime, Benfica’s head coach downplayed the comments by team forward Pablo Aimar about Chelsea recently. In a news conference this week, the Benfica coach said “No Benfica player has undermined the quality of any Chelsea player or the Chelsea team.” He added “In my opinion the strongest team make the Europa League final. Chelsea is an excellent team and they will finish third in the Premier League this year. They have quality.” For live score results today click HERE.
