Yeezys Crowds Grow for Nike Air Yeezy II Debut 2012

ST LOUIS (LALATE) – Yeezys mania is prompting massive lines today. The Nike Air Yeezy II launch in retail stores today June 9, 2012 has prompted exceptional lines across the U.S.; fans have been posting pictures across Instagram today depicting the horrible wait. But so far, no civil disobedience has been reported by local news because of the Yeezys demand.

Nike’s launch of the Air Yeezy II today has not drawn civil unrest seen last winter with the launch of the Air Jordan 11 Retro Concords. In December 2011, riots were reported across the U.S. by anxious shoppers wanting to get their hands on the Jordan Retros.

In December,  twenty Seattle customers were pepper sprayed during their scuffle for the shoes. Westfield Southcenter shoppers at the time had been lining up since 4 am. But when crowds grew to 1000, fighting and pushing began, reported Tukwila Officer Mike Murphy to news at the time.

That weekend, riots were reported for Jordan’s shoes from Washington State to Georgia. In Jersey City, New Jersey, one shopper was stabbed for their spot in line for the new Nike shoes. In California, gunfire erupted in Hilltop Mall over the shoes’ launch.

For today’s launch, some fans have been waiting on line since Friday, last week. Some have been selling tickets to wait in line for the shoes. Local news is reporting that seats in line have been selling for as much as one thousand dollars per person.
