BEIJING OLYMPICS! Tonight all eyes were on Alicia Sacramone, Chellsie Memmel, Shawn Johnson, and the rest of the women’s U.S. gymnastics team.
Chellsie Memmel’s ankle is bad. Alicia Sacramone is taped. Shawn Johnson’s beams were great and Nastia Liukin’s ueneven bars rocked.
Shawn Johnson and Luikin ended 1 - 2 in the qualifier. But the Chinese team is already of the U.S. team on points.
But Sunday, Memmel pictured above from the trials fell off the uneven bars. She says: “Just a mistake”
Sacramone reportedly went out of bounds on the floor: “I threw myself too hard on my two and a half” .
Shawn Johnson said of tonight:”We had to overcome so much today. It was a whirl of emotions for us. I’m glad we got the nerves out, got the few mistakes out of the way and now we go out and get ready for finals.”
