Pacquiao vs. Mosley Results End with Surprises in Undercard

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Pacquiao vs. Mosley results in early bouts have been decided. The Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley main event fight card will begin within moments, but earlier tonight a series of results from undercard fights were decided with some major surprises, shocking news.
First, in the flyweight fight of Mayol vs. Gallo, Rodel Mayol won a split decision against Javier Gallo. One judge scored it a draw, with two other judges giving Mayol the win by six points.

In the junior welterweight fight of Benavidez vs. Hope, Jose Benavidez defeated James Hope. The fight needed less than two minutes into the fifth round after Hope was pinned to the corner.

Also tonight in the junior welterweight fight of Cote vs. Ambriz, Pier Oliver Cote defeated Aris Ambriz by a fourth round TKO. After a series of combos in the third, Ambriz went down but was able to get up. But in the fourth round, after unable to respond, Ambriz watched as referee Tony Weeks end the fight.

Earlier this evening, in the fight of Dargan vs. Arrellin, Karl Dargan defeated Randy Arrellin with a majority decision after six rounds.

In the Alvaro vs. Narh fight, Mike Alvarado defeated Ray Narh by a third round TKO. In the Pavlik vs. Lopez fight, Kelly Pavlik defeated Alfonso Lopez by majority decision. In the Vazquez vs. Arce fight, Jorge Arce beat Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. by a 12th round TKO..

Next up is Pacquaio vs. Mosley. Mosley’s rep told news this week that “He’s [Mosley] a great human being who just happens to knock fighters’ … off.” He added “His family has that network around him that makes this great human being.”

But despite Mosley’s age, his camp thinks he has what it takes to win tonight. In a news conference, Mosley’s camp added that “You’re not talking about an ordinary guy getting older in the ring. You’re talking about a special guy–a guy that’s a legend.” They told news not to count out Mosley “because of his age… Sugar Shane Mosley doesn’t have to match Manny Pacquiao. He brings his own set of weapons to the plate, and Pacquiao’s going to see difficulties that he hasn’t seen of late.”

UPDATE 9:53 pm PST

Pacquiao vs. Mosley Final Result – Pacquaio wins. Final score was 119-108, 120-108 and 120-107.

Pacquiao vs. Mosley Results Will Depend on Speed, Strength

Pacquiao vs. Mosley Results Will Depend on Speed, Strength

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Tonight’s Pacquiao vs. Mosley fight results will depend on Shane Mosley’s speed and Manny Pacquiao’s strength, claim their camps to news. The Pacquiao vs. Mosley fight is the matching of a thirty-nine year old boxer who boasts the speed of a thirty year old, and the best pound-for-pound boxer alive who is on an amazing winning streak.

Coming into tonight’s Pacquiao vs. Mosley fight, Shane Mosley knows he has only won twice in his last five fights. Pacquiao, however, has won his last thirteen fights, in eight different weight divisions. So when Pacquiao told news this week that Mosley is a dangerous opponent in the right, was Pacquaio hyping up his competitor for publicity or being honest that Mosley is still in his prime?

“Shane Mosley is still very strong and he moves more like he’s 30 years old,” Pacquiao told news this week. “He’s the kind of fighter who is bigger than me. Pound-for-pound he’s still good.”

Mosley told news that a win tonight will prove he is “not washed up”, that he still has his power and “I haven’t lost my speed either”. However, a loss tonight could prove that Mosley’s career is over. With a 46-1 record, thirty-nine wins by way of KOs, Mosley has still faded in recent fights.

But Manny’s trainer, Freddie Roach, told news that Pacquaio knows this will not be an easy fight. “From day one, he told me this is not an easy fight” said Roach. “He [Pacquiao] wants to work, work, work. We know we are in a tough fight. We respect Shane and his camp. We’re 100 percent ready for this fight.”

Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley Height and Reach Won’t Impact Results

Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley Height and Reach Won't Impact Results

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – For tonight’s Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley fight, height and reach won’t impact results. Far before tonight’s Pacquiao vs. Mosley fight (channel and start time below), Manny Pacquiao has consistently battled news questions about whether his size impacts his action in the ring. As Freddie Roach told news last year, Paquiao’s size has never been an issue because his skill, not reach, wins fights.

In advance of the 2010 Pacquiao vs. Margarito fight, Pacquiao’s reps told news that their fighter has always outmatched his opponents with his skill, not his stats. “The bigger [his opponent] is the better it is for us” Freddie Roach told news in November. “Size doesn’t win fights, skill does and we outweigh them in that department. This will not be a difficult fight for us at all.”

And while size and reach might not win fights, Pacquiao still trains based upon his opponent’s stature. In advance of each fight, Pacquiao specifically trains with fighters who replicate his opponent’s stature – both size and reach – and delivery – both boxing pattern and strength. “In our training today we started hard against big guys, taller to give them that advantage.”

Ironically, the issue of training was one that dominated news in advance of the Mayweather vs. Mosley fight. Mayweather told news prior to his stunning defeat of Mosley one year ago that a great fighter comes from longevity with the same trainer. Mayweather said you can’t expect greatest in the ring unless you have achieved it in the training weeks with the same trainer who have learned from for year.

“My trainers have been with me for 40 fights” Mayweather said to news at the time. “I didn’t wait for the biggest fight of my career to get a new trainer…. I’m the biggest thing, because numbers don’t lie. The proof is in the pudding, I take less punishment, I land the highest percentage and I work the hardest.”

How do the two match up? Mosley stands three inches taller that Pacquiao, but his reach is seventy-four inches compared to sixty-seven. What time if the fight on tonight, what channel is the fight on tonight? The ppv broadcast starts at 9 pm ET, 6 pm PST and is viewable only on Showtime. Pacquiao comes in tonight’s fight with most recent wins against Antonio Margarito, Miguel Cotto, and Ricky Hatton. Mosley enters with a draw against Sergio Mora and loss to Mayweather.
