Today, the net reaction to Sammy Sosa’s story is still not lightening up. On Tuesday, the Sammy Sosa skin bleaching cream reaction went into overdrive, despite Sosa’s choice to give the exclusive interview to a lesser seen broadcast tv show, Univision’s “Primer Impacto” with Tony Dandrades.

Nevertheless, by Wednesday the confession was everywhere - that Sosa is using a bleaching cream on his face. But Sosa still said the pictures are deceiving saying “flashes (from the cameras) also made my skin look lighter”. But as you see above, while Sammy looks different before and after, his wife Sonia does not.

And if the story seemed strange enough, Sosa took another turn, revealing he’s in talks to be a spokesperson for the cream. The question remains  - now that you see Sosa’s face,  would even consider using the … bleaching cream … yourself.

Sosa still has not identified the cream that bleached his skin.

“I use a cream to keep my skin smooth and soft. I apply it before I go to bed. When I was playing for Chicago all those years, I was in the sun a lot for 1 o’clock games. … I’m surprised with the controversy this has caused.”

Sosa says the product is a bleaching cream.

“It’s a bleaching cream that I apply before going to bed and whitens my skin some It’s a cream that I have, that I use to soften (my skin), but has bleached me some. I’m not a racist, I live my life happily.”

Despite his use of a bleaching cream, and showing up at the Latin Grammys pre Awards telecast shades lighter then months before, Sosa says he’s surprised he got attention over his face.

“I’m doing well, doing well, thanks to God. A little surprised by the tsunami of attention.”

But did admit to using fake colored eye contacts to make his eyes green last week - “[I wanted to ] try something different. I’m not trying to be superficial.”

When asked if he’s trying to be like Michael Jackson, Sosa said: “Not at all, I respect him very much. I’m not a racist. I’m not like that. I’m just a happy person.”

On Saturday LALATE first broke to you the controversy. But Sosa had never commented, until Tuesday. On Saturday, questions about fake green eye contacts, hair, and skin coloring changes swirled. By Sunday, a friend of Sammy Sosa said he is not whitening, bleaching, nor making his skin white.

Now Sosa has finally spoken on the matter. And if you thought the story couldn’t get stranger, Sosa now says the changed look stems from skin cream he uses.

On Sunday, friend Rebecca Polihronis said the pictures like the one on the right are “deceiving”, even though Sonia look looks the same in both pictures and Sammy doesn’t. Rebecca says Sammy was “going through a rejuvenation process for his skin”. But she did not comment about his fake eye color.

Now Sosa is setting the record straight, or is he. Sammy Sosa granted Univision’s Tony Dandrades on “Primer Impacto” a two part interview. The first part aired Tuesday night.

“I’m doing well, doing well, thanks to God. A little surprised by the tsunami of attention.”

When asked “What’s going on with your skin?” Sosa responded:

“I use a cream to keep my skin smooth and soft. I apply it before I go to bed. When I was playing for Chicago all those years, I was in the sun a lot for 1 o’clock games,” said Sosa, who turns 41 tomorrow. “The flashes (from the cameras) also made my skin look lighter. I’m surprised with the controversy this has caused.”

Sosa wouldn’t name the product but said he is negotiating to market it. Sosa also confessed he had fake colored contacts on. “[I wanted to ] try something different. I’m not trying to be superficial.”

While the net asked Saturday if Sammy Sosa bleached his skin, his friend Rebecca Polihronis told the Chicago Tribune Sunday that Sosa’s apparent change in skin color is caused by a “rejuvenation process”, a “cleansing” process.

Sosa doesn’t himself give the interview; Rebecca doesn’t explain what cleansing process this was; but nevertheless, here is the result. Above is Sosa before, here is Sosa photographed last week:

Rebecca’s comments don’t address the eyes. She admits Sosa “did come out looking weird (in the picture)”.
