Rick Caruso for L.A. Mayor? Website Controversy Revealed: EXCLUSIVE

LOS ANGELES (LALATE EXCLUSIVE) – Rick Caruso might want to be Los Angeles’ next Mayor, that is if you believe new cyber moves revealed today. While Rick Caruso’s run for L.A. mayor has not yet been confirmed to news by the developer, LALATE has uncovered a series of peculiar digital parking moves, that may or may not be authorized by Caruso.
A Los Angeles entity has cyber-parked a series of website domains that involve Caruso’s name and “mayor” keywords. First, all three possible websites of .net, .com, and .org for “Rick Caruso for Mayor” have been allegedly parked by Fund Raising, Inc., and/or Fund Raising’s registrar agent. The Los Angeles based company appears to have secured the domains roughly four years ago.
That same year, all three possible websites for “Caruso for Mayor” were allegedly bought up as well. The registrant was again allegedly the same Los Angeles company. A LinkedIn profile for Fund Raising states “We raise money for ballot measures, Political Action Committees, Trade Associations and not-for-profit organizations “.
But is the company affiliated with Caruso? In 2009, the company served as a keynote speaker at the Los Angeles County Democratic Party Activist & Club Summit. Moreover, the same registrar has no registration history behind Caruso’s business website, Caruso Affiliated.
Rick Caruso has yet to comment about the websites using his name. One of Caruso’s companies, Caruso Property Management, however, is in possession of a series of trademarks for the Caruso name. Among Caruso’s trademarks are “Caruso Cinema” and “Life.Style.Caruso”.
So could Los Angeles life soon see Caruso as their next mayor? In July 2011 he said he had not yet decided if he would run for mayor. “I love public service. I think it’s an honorable job, and I think more people should do it”. He added “I’m frustrated. I’ve raised my family here. I have my business here. I really do love this city and I’m frustrated that it’s like we’re running in the mud. We’re making a little bit of progress but not enough.”
