LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Ray J and Whitney Houston were dating off and on for several years. But questions about Ray J and Whitney Houston’s final days together still remained unanswered tonight. Among them are claims of missed calls from Houston to Ray J on Saturday before her death, a claim that Houston was “belligerent” around Ray J on Thursday, and the unanswered question about Ray J’s relationship with Bobby Brown.
On February 3, LALATE reported news that Ray J and Whitney Houston were back together dating. The two had dated off and on since 2008,. They never confirmed their relationship to news. But when asked if they were dating, Ray J and Whitney Houston never denied it as well.
In 2008, Ray J and Whitney Houston turned heads when they appeared in Atlanta on what was believed to be their first ever date. Initial news reports at the time claimed the two were just friends.
But in the days that followed, Ray J and Whitney continued to appear on dates. They would appear on sporadic dates off and on over the years, as covered on LALATE from 2008 to this month.

On Saturday, insiders said that Houston and Bobby Brown were still exceptionally close, and still in love. Reports also claimed that Houston and Brown would often vacation together with Brown’s current girlfriend. But Ray J was never spotted in the company of Brown and Houston, together, in the same way.
Ray J’s song “Boyfriend” dominated news upon its release because of its lyrics appearing to reference Bobby Brown. “Is that your wife, is that your shorty? Well I’m her boyfriend”. Ray J also sung “I think the problem …Making love is cool, just pull her hair sometimes.”
And while Ray J’s relationship with Bobby Brown remains unknown, the bigger issue today are reported missed calls from Houston to Ray J moments before her death.
On Sunday morning, Ray J was inside the lobby of the Beverly Hilton. The LA Times claims Ray J was “talking about “missed calls” from the deceased pop star. “We all gotta live with that.”" Ray J’s was described as “quiet but stern as he resisted his companions, dismissing their pleas with profanity.”

Ray J was protective of her relationship with Houston. “You know, they blow this thing out of proportion. I mean, that’s my friend. I’ve been knowing her for years and years and years, and she’s a friend of the family,” he told the Insider. “I have a lot of love for her and I have a lot of respect for her.”
The program then asked him if the two had a physical relationship. “We’ve always kept our relationship as private as we could, but when we go out, she’s such an icon, it reaches the masses,” Ray J said. “But, for the most part, we’ve always been friends and we’ve kept everything hush-hush and just quiet and we really don’t focus on that.”

Also unclear is Houston’s behavior on Thursday night. She and Ray J attended Kelly Price’s party, “Kelly Price and Friends Unplugged: For the Love of R&B Grammy Party,” at the Los Angeles nightclub Tru Hollywood. Houston attended the night with daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown.
During an exchange, however, with Stacy Francis (The X Factor), Houston allegedly got heated. “Whitney just got belligerent,” a source told The Hollywood Reporter. “Ray was trying to defend Stacy, telling Whitney, ‘Stacy’s family!’, but Whitney was feeling crowded out and hands were raised.”
Beyonce said of Whitney today “The loss of Whitney Houston is painful. I remember meeting Whitney for the first time when I was 15. She was the ultimate legend. The ultimate woman. Not only was she confident, poised, stunningly beautiful and intelligent, but she was sincere and kind. She took the time to make everyone feel like they were very important to her. I, like every singer, always wanted to be just like her. Her voice was perfect. Strong but soothing. Soulful and classic. Her vibrato, her cadence, her control. So many of my life’s memories are attached to a Whitney Houston song. She is our queen and she opened doors and provided a blueprint for all of us.
God bless her.”
