Elixir by Bria Valente will be released by Prince in 2009. Elixir by Bria Valente joins three new albums from Prince for 2009 profiled by LALATE this week.

Prince says of Valente’s Elixir to the L.A. Times:

“We got sick of waiting for Sade to make a new album. This music is nasty, but it’s not dirty … She’s singing about her lover, who could be her partner for life.”

The Times calls the tracks “chill, with Valente’s buttery voice melding with beats by Morris Hayes and Prince’s guitar lines”.

As LALATE told you earlier this week, Prince will release this year three retail-sold albums according to reports. Tracks from the albums have gotten airtime already in 2008 on Los Angeles’ 103.1 FM.

Lotus Flower is another of the three new Prince albums for 2009. Prince will release the album Lotus Flower at a retailer this year.

The Lotus Flower album will be reportedly a “varied album, featuring cuts recorded over the course of two years, but standout tracks include some heavy rockers — especially the apocalyptic “Dreamer”.

Prince says Dreamer was inspired in part by Dick Gregory. The album will join three others for an exclusive, non-label, retail-sold deal in 2009, says reports. Tracks from the albums have gotten airtime already in 2008 on Los Angeles’ 103.1 FM.

MPLSOUND is one of three new Prince albums for 2009. Prince will release the album MPLSOUND at a retailer this year.

MPLSOUND, the working title of Prince’s first 2009 album, will be reportedly “an electro-flavored solo effort”. The work is done at Paisley Park Studios and features Pro Tools, “new ways of recording”, a Q-Tip rap, a “Funky Congregation”, and perhaps a live set piece.

The album will join three others for an exclusive, non-label, retail-sold deal in 2009, says reports.

Tracks from the various album already played on Los Angeles’ 103.1 FM in 2008.

Happy Birthday to Prince who celebrated this 50th birthday over the weekend here in Los Angeles at a super low key night.Ironically, his birthday party was at the same spot that one of LALATE’s friends threw their birthday bash a few weeks back.
