The video surfaced this weekend shot in March 2006 during the last year that Harry and Khan were in officer training at the Royal Military Academy in Camberley, Surrey. The video is shot in Cyprus and features Prince Harry’s platoon that included then Captain Khan.
Harry is reportedly seen looking into the face of an Asian cadet and saying “Anybody else here? Ah, our little Paki friend … Ahmed.”
Later, one solider has his head covered, causing the Prince to say “It’s Dan the Man… you look like a raghead!”
Harry has since apologized saying he didn’t use the term with malice.
One foreign website describes Khan’s achievements in 2006 bestowed at the Sovereign’s Parade at the Royal Military Academy.
“Gentleman Cadet Ahmed Raza Khan was awarded with three other medals on his excellent performance in the subjects of Defence & International Affairs, War Studies and overall best academic score.
“Cadet Ahmed Raza Khan is highly intelligent and physically active individual blessed with extraordinary leadership qualities. After spending one and a half year in PMA, he was selected for further training in Royal Military academy Sand Hurst. Royal Military academy has an Allied Division where cadets of 30 different countries get training. “
His father is Khan Abbasi, a former vice president of Pakistan’s Muslim Commercial Bank. He tells press today: “My son is a credit to his nation. Ahmed trained alongside Prince Harry - they were colleagues and friends…. To be chosen as an officer cadet for Sandhurst, you have to sit many exams and just one is picked from around 1,000 cadets.” He says sorry is not enough and calls the remark a “disgraceful insult”.
