The committed found that there is “substantial and credible evidence” to refer the matter to the Justice Department. Committee Chairman Sen. Barbara Boxer announced the news midday today. Ensign disagreed, issued a news statement through his attorney Rob Walker today. “Senator Ensign has admitted and apologized for his conduct and imposed on himself the highest sanction of resignation.” The news statement adds “But this is not the same as agreeing that he did or intended to violate any laws or rules, and this submission demonstrates that there is a lot more to the issues than the Committee’s report indicates.”

Herman Cain – Former Godfather Pizza CEO Wins Debate

Herman Cain Former Godfather Pizza Man Wins Debate

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Insiders contend Herman Cain, the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, won Thursday night’s 2012 Republican presidential debate. Herman Cain before last night’s debate was not a household name, even though his pizzas have fed countless U.S. families. But while last night’s debate was devoid of its Republican headliners, most agree that of the five participants Herman Cain was the clear winner with a convincing message.

Last night’s first Republican debate took to Greenville, SC. But when the telecast debate began, Republican voters didn’t see the familiar faces, possible candidates like Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich and Donald Trump.

Instead, they saw five men with comparable visions – Herman Cain, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Texas Rep. Ron Paul, former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.

Santorum said of President Obama “If you look at what President Obama has done right in foreign policy, it has always been a continuation of the Bush policies.”

Santorum wasn’t the only candidate going after the President’s foreign policy.  He told news that “The issues that have come up while he’s been president, he’s gotten them wrong strategically every single time,” Pawlenty remarked.

Cain told news much the same. Cain asserted that America deserves a clear road map about Afghanistan. “It’s not clear what the road map to victory is [in Afghanistan]” Cain remarked. “This is why I would revisit the issue in defining those three critical questions answering those questions before I as president made a decision.”

John Ensign Cynthia Hampton Affair Prompts Resignation

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Sen. John Ensign affair with mistress Cynthia Hampton (aka Cindy Hampton) has ended with Ensign’s resignation. Senator John Ensign will resign Friday, claims reports, two years after Ensign admitted to an affair with Cynthia Hampton, married to Ensign’s former senior aide Doug Hampton .

In a news statement in 2009, Ensign admitted to their affair. “Last year, I had an affair” said Ensign. “I violated the vows of my marriage. It is the worst thing I have ever done in my life. If there was ever anything in my life that I could take back, this would be it. I take full responsibility for my action.”

Ensign’s wife told news at the time “Since we found out last year, we have worked through the situation, and we have come to reconciliation.” She added “This has been difficult on both families. With the help of our family and close friends, our marriage has become stronger.”

In 2010, the U.S. Justice Department said it would not pursue criminal charges. However, he remains under investigation by the  Senate Ethics Committee. Reports are claiming that the Senator has told his Washington and State offices that he will resign tomorrow.

In March, however, he told news he would not seek re-election in 2012, but fulfill his term. “This campaign would be exceptionally ugly,” he said. “I just came to the conclusion I couldn’t put my family through it.”

Virgil Peck Remarks Prompt Resignation Requests

ST LOUIS (LALATE) – Republican Kansas State Rep. Virgil Peck’s remarks about illegal aliens is drawing national criticism. Virgil Peck’s comments were followed by a full apology late Tuesday.

Peck’s remarks were “Looks like to me, if shooting these immigrating feral hogs works, maybe we have found a [solution] to our illegal immigration problem”. When asked to apologize, Peck then said “I was just speaking like a southeast Kansas person.”

Late today, he issued the following apology: “My statements yesterday were regrettable. Please accept my apology.” Critics claim he only issued the apology because of the outrage he was drawing. Gov. Sam Brownback called the remarks “completely inappropriate.”

Texas congressman Charlie Gonzalez issued a statement to news today that Peck’s “[s]peaking of human beings like animals and implying gun violence as an acceptable course of action crosses a line that his own party and his own peers should not tolerate”

Others from South Kansas were furious about the remark. Browback added “I’m from southeast Kansas.. I disagree with that statement.” Rep. Bob Grant told news that “I have no intention of letting Representative Peck brand me with his own extremist views just because I live in the same region.”

The League of United Latin American Citizens has asked for Peck’s resignation. In a statement to news, LULAC’s national president Margaret Moran said “Representative Peck’s comments about shooting immigrants and likening them to hogs are an outrageous dehumanization of hardworking Kansas residents”.

Nick Milroy Tackled Entering Capitol

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Rep. Nick Milroy was tackled while trying to enter his State Capitol office (video below). Nick Milroy was tackled and taken down by State Capitol police officials. And now that struggle has all been caught on tape.

It’s unusual to show up to work and have security guards tell you not to enter your office. But how about when they tackle you, entering your office in the State legislature, in front of news cameras recording? That’s what happened last night in Wisconsin.

The bizarre encounter came after a Wisconsin court ruled that protesters would not be able to spend the night inside the State Capitol. Protesters were angered by their Governor’s recent stance on a collective bargaining agreement for public employees.

On Thursday night, Wisconsin Democratic Representative Nick Milroy tried to enter his office, like any other day at work. The State Capitol was closed to the public. Officers were unhappy Milroy wanted to simply get into his office to get an article of clothing. So, they tackled him to the ground. No comment has yet been given about the peculiar encounter. Video is below.
