Tony Curtis Today Show VIDEO!

Tony Curtis Newman Brando

VIDEO! Watch video and read an excerpt of Tony Curtis dissing studio execs that gave parts to Paul Newman and Marlon Brando, not him. Tony Curtis’ appears on the Today Show today for his new book “American Prince”. Curtis writes about the struggle against Newman and Brando for roles.

Curtis tells USA Today “I just wanted to be treated like anybody else. There was a lot of opposition to me during the early years of movies. It had an effect on me. I don’t feel like I got the movies I should have gotten.”

Here is an excerpt from his book:

“All my life I had one dream, and that was to be in the movies. Maybe it was because I had a pretty rough childhood, or perhaps it was because I was always more than a little insecure, but as a kid I longed to see myself ten feet tall on the big screen. Through no fault of my teachers, I received almost no formal education, but after I spent three years in the Navy during World War II, the GI Bill allowed me to go to acting school on the government’s nickel. I may not have had much schooling, but it turned out I had a gift for acting. When I walked out on that stage, it felt like a hand in a velvet glove. I wasn’t scared; I wasn’t even nervous. I just loved being the center of attention, just like I’d always known I would.

Newman’s Own VIDEO Tribute!

Posted on September 27th, 2008 in Paul Newman by lalate

Newman's Own VIDEO!

VIDEO! Watch the Newman’s Own Foundation video tribute to Paul Newman. LALATE2 has the Newman’s Own video tribute released by the Foundation moments ago.

The Newman’s Own brand, salad dressing to popcorn, made the Foundation one of the greatest achievements of Paul Newman and one of the finest philanthropic efforts of any actor, ever.

In fact, the Newman’s Own website has two messages on its site today. One says the site is only partially up because of the massive amount of traffic currently on the site. The other message on the site is a tribute to Paul Newman. It reads as follows:

“We celebrate the inspirational life of our founder Paul L. Newman and honor his legacy with our dedication to the continued success of Newman’s Own.

“For 25 years, we at Newman’s Own have had a front row seat to watch Paul’s entrepreneurial brilliance, humor, and compassion at work helping those in need. Our company motto, “Shameless Exploitation in Pursuit of the Common Good,” was Paul’s vision for Newman’s Own and it is a philosophy we are proud to continue.

“Paul occasionally referred to Newman’s Own as the “joke that got out of control” and would express astonishment at its success. Despite this humorous approach, Paul was committed to the company’s business and to providing top-notch quality – he brought all-natural food products to a wide audience long before it was fashionable. And he was one of the greatest recyclers, giving back to charity all the money he earned from the sale of Newman’s Own products.

“Shameless Exploitation in Pursuit of the Common Good

“Newman’s Own has grown into a powerful and lasting expression of Paul Newman’s generosity. The Company has generated over $250 million in proceeds that have been donated by Paul Newman and the Newman’s Own Foundation to thousands of charities worldwide. Particularly close to his heart were the Hole in the Wall Camps, now the leading global family of camps for children with life-threatening illnesses, which Paul started over 20 years ago.

“Today, Newman’s Own is a thriving company with hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenue. As always, all profits are donated to charity through Newman’s Own Foundation. We will miss Paul, but we will honor his vision for the Common Good through dedicated stewardship of his company that will perpetuate his philanthropic legacy. Paul wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Paul Newman Cancer CONFIRMED A.E. Hotchner

Posted on June 11th, 2008 in A.E. Hotchner, Paul Newman by lalate

Paul Newman

Paul Newman’s neighbor and co-founder of Newman’s Own salad dressing writer A.E. Hotchner has confirmed moments ago that Paul Newman does in fact have cancer. However, Hotcher has no insight as to the type of cancer or the condition of Newman’s current condition. But he does say Newman confessed to having cancer 18 months ago.

Writer A.E. Hotchner, who partnered with Newman to start Newman’s Own salad dressing company in the 1980s, said the actor told him about the disease about 18 months ago. He did not specify what kind of cancer, but said Newman is in active treatment.

“I know that it’s a form of cancer,” Hotchner told AP moments ago. “It’s a form of cancer and he’s dealing with it.”

Newman has issued a statement that he is doing fine but not directly addressing the cancer reports.

Send your love to Paul Newman. As LALATE said earlier today, Newman has given back as a celebrity more than perhaps any other celebrity has before him. Such a class act, on and off the screen.

Paul Newman Cancer?

Posted on June 11th, 2008 in Paul Newman by lalate

Paul Newman

Paul Newman has denied reports that he is suffering from terminal lung cancer. Then late last night, Paul Newman issued another statement through his publicist:

“Newman says he’s doing nicely. This is what I got from him. He says he’s doing nicely, and this is the statement I wanted to share with you, and that’s what I have. I spoke to his office. … this is the statement that came directly from him.”

What does that mean?

It means for us to send out love to Newman whether he is or isn’t well.

Newman remains one of the “finest” celebrities ever …. who has used his fame to give back to the world many, many times over. One of the greatest to ever lead the business.
