Rebecca and Sanjay told their love story to InTouch back before their wedding. The magazine wrote:

“As a neurosurgeon and CNN senior medical correspondent who spent a month with the U.S. Navy in Iraq, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, 35, has been in plenty of trying situations. But his resolve was tested anew when he proposed to Rebecca Olson, 36. “I wrote her a poem and in the last line asked her to marry me,” says Gupta. “Watching her read it, I was very nervous—it was over a page long.” Adds Olson, a family law attorney, “He was down on one knee and asking me to marry him before I even got to the end!” “

SCANDAL! A Grand Jury investigation of Bill Richardson has caused Richardson to resign as Commerce Secretary nominee. A grand jury of Bill Richardson resulted in his resignation from Obama’s commerce secretary nomination.

Obama made the official statement moments ago, saying it’s “with deep regret”.

What is the investigation about? The grand jury is trying to figure out how a California company gave Richardson donations and won a New Mexico state contract worth more than $1 billion.

$1 BILLION???!!

Richardson said he “acted properly in all matters.”

Richardson made news in 2008 after not supporting Hillary Clinton despite top appointments during the Clinton Administration.

Rick Warren and Melissa Etheridge are Hollywood’s new BFFs! Melissa Etheridge can’t believe Rick Warren is really a preacher. Why? Because Warren reportedly has even Melissa’s earlier albums.

“He had most of my albums from the very first one. What? This didn’t sound like a gay hater, much less a preacher,” Etheridge wrote this week.

Etheridge said she met with Warren recently and hit it off .. and next will do lunch. Yes, only in Hollywood.

Etheridge of course is the gay rights advocate who recently said she won’t pay taxes to California is Prop 8 is made legal, and Warren the anti gay marriage preacher who was recently chosen to give the inauguration invocation for Barack Obama in January.

“When we met later that night, he entered the room with open arms and an open heart. We agreed to build bridges to the future,” she wrote this week.

John P. Holden has been named an Obama top science adviser. Barack Obama has chosen John Holden and Jane Lubchenco as among his top science advisers today. Obama made the Holden announcement today during his weekly radio address.

“Today, more than ever before, science holds the key to our survival as a planet and our security and prosperity as a nation”

Obama chose for his Council of Advisers on Science and Technology Holdren, Eric Lander, Harold Varmus, and Jane Lubchenco to head the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Obama said today:

“The truth is that promoting science isn’t just about providing resources — it’s about protecting free and open inquiry. It’s about ensuring that facts and evidence are never twisted or obscured by politics or ideology.”

Obama will choose Dennis Blair as Director of National Intelligence. Navy Adm. Dennis Blair will be Obama’s Director of National Intelligence, but the appointment is a secret so far.

Reports say: “President-elect Barack Obama has chosen retired Navy Adm. Dennis Blair as the top U.S. intelligence official and could make an announcement as early as Friday, a source familiar with the nomination said on Thursday.”

Obama is expected to make his final official appointment announcements Friday before embarking on his holiday vacation in Hawaii.

Hilda Solis will be Obama’s Labor Secretary! Barack Obama has chosen Los Angeles’ Democratic Rep. Hilda Solis as Treasury Secretary. Solis becomes Obama’s last Cabinet position to be filled.

Solis is the only member of Congress of Central American descent. And she is from Los Angeles! She represents East LA., baby.

Obama is reportedly trying to get his appointments done before the holiday season in which he returns to Hawaii. Remaining outstanding positions include senior intelligence positions and the Office of U.S. Trade Representative.

Solis was the first Latina elected to Congress.
