Dharun Ravi Guilty Jury Verdict Reached, Ravi Faces Prison Sentence

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A Dharun Ravi jury verdict has been reached in the Tyler Clementi matter. Dharun Ravi’s jury has found him guilty of invasion of privacy in the hate crime of Tyler Clementi, also dubbed the Rutgers webcam spying case. He was found not guilty of bias intimidation. The Ravi and Clementi families have yet to comment about the news.

In 2011, Tyler Clementi’s parents Joe and Jane Clementi said that nothing would replace their personal tragedy. “Regardless of legal outcomes, our hope is that our family’s personal tragedy will serve as a call for compassion, empathy and human dignity.”

In October 2011, Ravi’s attorney was certain that his client was not guilty of criminal bias. “I am confident that nothing will be learned to justify, warrant or support the filing of any bias criminal complaint.”

Initially prosecutors pursued an invasion charge. Only later was a bias charge added. Previously, Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan said that “The initial focus of this investigation has been to determine who was responsible for remotely activating the camera in the dormitory room of the student and then transmitting the encounter on the Internet.”

In April 2011, prosecutors were still unsure about the bias charge. “Now that two individuals have been charged with invasion of privacy, we will be making every effort to assess whether bias played a role in the incident, and, if so, we will bring appropriate charges.”

Ravi was also found guilty of nvasion of privacy, bias intimidation, tampering and obstruction. WNYC told news moments ago that Ravi was ” guilty of almost everything”. He faces as much as ten years in prison.

Nick Santino, All My Children Actor, Commits Suicide

CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – Nick Santino (photos below) appeared on All My Children and Guiding Light. But on Wednesday, Nick Santino killed himself, less than one day after he euthanized his dog, a pit bull named Rocco.

Nick Santino had appeared on seven episode of AMC and six episodes of Guiding Light. But in recent days, Santino thought his New York building management was harassing him because he had adopted a pit bull dog.

After growing pressure, Santino was fined for the dog allegedly barking. Santino had adopted the dog from a shelter several years ago. Finally, the building told Santino that he had to move out or euthanize the pit bull. The dog reportedly was in perfect health, however.

Santino on Tuesday gave into pressure and euthanized his dog, on Nick’s 47th birthday. Hours later, he believed he had committed a mistake. “Today I betrayed my best friend and put down my best friend,” Santino wrote in his suicide note. “Rocco trusted me and I failed him. He didn’t deserve this.” Santino killed himself on Wednesday.

Rocco and Nick will be cremated and buried together, family members tell news.

Charles F. Feeney, Roosevelt Island Cornell Campus Donation Gets Revealed

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A Charles F. Feeney mystery donation to Cornell for a new Roosevelt Island campus has been unmasked by New York news. Charles F. Feeney through his Atlantic Philanthropies gave $350 million to Cornell to build a new technology-based satellite campus on Roosevelt Island, New York news uncovered last night. But who is Charles F. Feeney?

Charles F. Feeney, 80, is a Cornell album.  The donor behind the massive new campus on Roosevelt Island in New York City had remained a mystery. Today, that is no longer the case. The donation will also help New York City extensively. News reports claim that the campus will generate thirty thousand jobs for local residents when it opens, and produce $1.4 billion in tax revenue.

Feeney’s riches were built over forty years ago. He co-founded the Duty Free Shoppers Group. In the 1990s, he sold just his stake  in the company for a reported $2.47 billion to buyer LVMH Moet Hennessy-Louis Vuitton. He then put $3.5 billion into his charity.

In 2011, he made news becoming a signatory to The Giving Pledge. Under the pledge, he vowed to die broke and donate all his money away. To date, he reportedly doesn’t own a car, even a house. He wrote in February, “I cannot think of a more personally rewarding and appropriate use of wealth than to give while one is living – to personally devote oneself to meaningful efforts to improve the human condition. More importantly, today’s needs are so great and varied that intelligent philanthropic support and positive interventions can have greater value and impact today than if they are delayed when the needs are greater.”

Jerome Isaac Burned Deloris Gillespie Alive Because of Debts

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Jerome Isaac burned Deloris Gillespie alive in a New York elevator because of debts. Isaac confessed to setting his former employer Deloris Gillespie on fire after she terminated his employment recently. Isaac ambushed Deloris Saturday outside her Brooklyn, New York apartment.

Deloris Gillespie, 73, had employed Isaac for months. But recently she believed he had been stealing from her. She fired him after he refused to do tasks she ordered him to do. Isaac claimed he was owed at least two thousand dollars. So he killed her.

Deloris Gillespie had been shopping at her local grocery store for the holidays. She returned to her building where she had lived for decades with her family. Suddenly, when the elevator reached the fifth-floor of the building in Prospect Height, she saw Isaac in front of her.

Isaac (photos above) was dressed in military style. He had mounted on him a device with a sprayer. He began to spray Deloris with lighter fluid. She retreated to the back of the elevator. With nowhere to go, Deloris fell to the car’s floor. Then Isaac lit a cloth and tossed the flame onto Deloris. The elevator door closed and she was burned alive.

When investigators responded, Deloris was burnt beyond recognition. Now, Isaac has confessed to the murder at 203 Underhill Ave. Surveillance video captured the entire murder. Five others suffered nominal injuries as the smoke filled the building. Isaac, 47, is being held on first and second degree murder along with an arson charge.

Suzanne Hart, Young and Rubicam Elevator Victim, Was Palos Verdes High Graduate: EXCLUSIVE

LOS ANGELES (LALATE EXCLUSIVE) – Suzanne Hart of Young and Rubicam (photo above) died in the Y&R / WPP  elevator accident crash today. Suzanne Hart also had ties to Southern California, LALATE can exclusively report. Hart was reportedly a Palos Verdes High School graduate. Suzanne Hart was at work at 285 Madison Ave, at 40th Street, when a elevator accident killed the 41 year executive. Hart was Director of New Business Content and Experience at Young and Rubicam.

Suzanne Hart was a graduate of Knox College and had grown up in Southern California. The executive was a 1988 graduate of Palos Verdes High School. She had previously worked in New Business Manager at Merkley and Partners, as marketing director at Euro RSCG Worldwide, and as an account director at Hanft Raboy and Partners.

The 285 Madison Ave building features numerous WPP company offices. But NYFD officials, WPP executives, and Y&R have yet to determine what went wrong just days before Christmas. At roughly 10 am, Hart was halfway onto one elevator when, with its doors still open, the car shot upwards. Hart was immediate pinned to death.

Two other victims suffered minor injuries and trauma; they are being treated at New York University Hospital. Other tenants in the building include Blast Radius, Kang & Lee and BrandBuzz and Bravo. The 85 year old building has to up to date records on its thirteen elevators, serviced by Transel Elevator Inc.

Today’s elevator crash was far different from that of Annette Lujan at Cal State Long Beach earlier this month. Long Beach Fire told news that Lujan “apparently fell down the elevator shaft”. It remains unclear what prompted Lujan to allegedly fall out of the elevator. Toni Beron told news that at Lujan was trapped in the elevator. But for reasons still unknown, Lujan allegedly tried to climb out of the elevator car. Thereafter, the car moved, crushing Annette Lujan in the shaft near the third floor.

CSULB said of the news “The university has endured a terrible tragedy today. I know all of us extend our deepest condolences to the victim’s family, friends and co-workers.” It added “Initial information indicates that the elevator started to move as she was attempting to exit. University Police and the Long Beach Fire Department responded immediately to a call of a woman trapped in the elevator, but Lujan succumbed to her injuries at the scene.”
