LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Within minutes, Miss Universo (Miss Universe) 2011 will reveal the Top 16 as it gets closer to tonight’s gandora. Who will be la ganadora (winner) of Miss Universo 2011? In four of the last five years, the winner has come from Latin America. And while tonight’s show is certainly nothing like “Nuestra Bellez Latina” (Univision), NBC will soon learn if the move of the show to Brazil tonight helped increased international television ratings. Last year, Bret Michaels and Natalie Morales hosted the telecast from Las Vegas. This year, Donald Trump brought Morales back but switch Michaels with Bravo personality Andy Cohen. But the big difference has been to move the telecast from Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas to Sao Paolo, Brazil.

It’s from Latin America that most recent winners have come from. Jimena Navarrete Rosete won last year from Mexico. Miss Venezuela won in 2008 and 2009 with Dayana Sabrina Mendoza Moncada and Stefanía Fernández Krupij.

Brazil, however, hasn’t won in decades. Two times before Miss Brazil walked away with the crown – Iêda Maria Britto Vargas in 1963 and five years later with Marta Maria Cordeiro Vasconcellos. And while Miss Universo has constantly drawn a large international viewership, the pageant wasn’t always hosted internationally. Until the 1970s, the show was either held in Long Beach, California or Miami, Florida. To qualify tonight, each contestant has to be between ages 18 and 27, single, and not pregnant.

Tonight’s telecast has surprised news with a new format. At the beginning of the telecast (currently EN VIVO on NBC), the top 16 competitors will be revealed. Of the top sixteen, fifteen will be chosen by the judges, and one by one-line viewers. The show will drop then to the top five finalists for the question and answer section. The winner will be flown overnight to New York to make appearances on morning news Tuesday.

The top sixteen finalists tonight were France, Kosovo, Colombia, China, Angola, Australia, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Netherlands, USA, Ukraine, Panama, Costa Rica, Portugal, and Venezuela. The top 10 were Australia, Costa Rica, France, Ukraine,  Portugal, Panama, Philippines, Angola,  China, and  Brazil (Priscila Machado).

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Adrienne Maloof will help pick the Miss Universe 2011 winner tonight. But back in Beverly Hills, Adrienne Maloof is battling allegations that she is suffering money troubles. Adrienne tonight will join Andy Cohen for the NBC / Donald Trump broadcast. Last year, Cohen said of Maloof and her co-stars that they are “so friggen rich”. But this week Maloof is battling allegations that she is battling troubles with finances.

Adrienne Maloof is the subject of new allegations that claim she is “suffering financial troubles”, so claims Radar Online. The report claims “Adrienne and [husband] Paul lead an extravagant life, but they’re having money troubles and are looking for ways to scale back their opulence.” Maloof has yet to comment about the allegations.

During the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Reunion last year, Cohen said “What captured everyone’s attention is how freaking rich you all are!” Since then, viewers have learned that at least one Housewife wasn’t rich at the time.

Russell Armstrong’s attorney Ronald Richards claimed that, even when Cohen made the remark, Taylor and Russell Armstrong didn’t own a house let alone have a single asset to their name. “This was most likely going to be a no asset divorce because neither one of them have any.”

He said that Taylor, during the taping of the show, rented with Russell a $9,000 a month home, not in Beverly Hills, but in Bel Air Crest. Richards claimed the Armstrongs were broke during season one. “There just isn’t any money, period.”

SANTA MONICA (LALATE) – Natalie Morales and Bret Michaels are your 2010 Miss Universe Pageant hosts, confirms Donald Trumpt today. Bret Michaels will join Morales as co-host of the “2010 Miss Universe Pageant” live from Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on August 23 (9-11 p.m. ET) on NBC, confirms the Miss Universe Pageant in a statement to LALATE Tuesday.

Performers will be Orianthi, John Legend & The Root.

“It doesn’t get hotter than being in Las Vegas during the month of August,” said Trump.” “Add more than 80 of the world’s most beautiful women converging to compete for the crown of Miss Universe along with Bret Michaels, Natalie Morales, Orianthi and John Legend & The Roots…Las Vegas is going to be scorching hot!”

“Miss Universe 2009, Stefania Fernandez, will crown her successor at the conclusion of the live broadcast. During her reign, Fernandez has traveled the globe as an advocate for HIV/AIDS education and awareness. Miss Universe 2010 will continue this work throughout her reign.”

A two-hour telecast will be aired in 190 countries and supported by online voting at nbc.com.

Anya Ayoung-Chee is from the city of Port-of-Spain, trained in ballet, a fan of art and design, educated in London and New York.

In 2007, Trinidad and Tobago withdrew from that year’s Miss Universe Competition due to funding problems. The country won the 1977 and 1998 pageants.

Anya Ayoung-Chee went to the Miss Universe pageant representing Trinidad and Tobago having grown up in a family of 8.

At the 2008 competition, Anya told judges:

“Trinidad & Tobago is unique in its ethnic make-up because it is a country with people of all races. I am of mixed origin, mainly Chinese, Indian and Caucasian, and although my particular mixture is a minority, I represent the unusual combination of ethnicities that defines us as a people”.

Just days ago, on November 8, 2009 La Toya Woods was named the Miss Trinidad and Tobago Universe ending Anya as the longest reigning Miss Trinidad and Tobago Universe.

But is it Hiroko on the tape?

At the Miss Universe contest, Mima got to the first round, reaching the round of 15, but eventually being cut. Mima’s final position was 14. Today Mima however is at the top of international news today with questions of her, Chee, and the tape going still unanswered.

Mima is originally from Tokushima Prefecture.

A report Tuesday said.

“Hiroko Mima, who was crowned Miss Universe Japan 2008, and Anya Ayoung-Chee, who was crowned Miss Universe 2008 of Trinidad and Tobago 2008, are in the middle a scandal after an intimate video tape leaked allegedly showing Hiroko and Anya together having [relations] with Anya’s boyfriend Wyatt, and with each other.”

Where did the alleged tape come from? Where was it recorded? And how did the tape end up in the U.S.? And who is the guy? Mima is a student at Nihon University. Her current degree is Physical education.
