Solider Skype Death of Capt Bruce Kevin Clark Prompts Army Denial

ST LOUIS (LALATE) – The solider Skype death of Capt Bruce Kevin Clark prompted an Army denial today. Capt Bruce Kevin Clark died during a Skype session with his wife. But while Susan Orellana-Clark questioned if her husband was shot during the Skype chat, military investigators confirmed to news Monday that the solider was not shot.

Officials confirm that  the soldier’s cause of death is unknown. But they claim he was not shot and was not a victim of foul play. Army Criminal Investigation Command spokesman Chris Grey said in a news statement today that there was no bullet hole behind the solider. “We can positively say that Captain Clark was not shot,” Grey told news today.

Grey said Clark had no trauma to the body.  “Agents conducting the investigation, found no trauma to the body beyond minor abrasions and a possible broken nose most likely caused from Captain Clark striking his face on his desk when he collapsed”. Grey added “Although we have not completely ruled it out to ensure a complete and thorough investigation is conducted, we do not suspect foul play in the death of Captain Clark at this point in our ongoing investigation”.

The soldier’s cause of death is pending autopsy and toxicology results. His wife had previously sought details “to honor my husband and dispel the inaccurate information and supposition promulgated by other parties.”

Officials tell news that “After two hours and many frantic phone calls by Mrs. Clark, two military personnel arrived in the room and appeared to check his pulse, but provided no details about his condition to his wife.” Clark’s funeral arrangements have not been announced to news. His body is currently at Dover Air Force Base.

ST LOUIS (LALATE) – A Navy F/A-18D jet crashed today; the jet originated from Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, officials confirm to news moments ago. The Navy jet crashed in the Hampton roads area Friday April 6, 2012, hitting the Mayfair Mews Apartment complex in Virginia Beach. U.S. Rep. Cmdr. Phil Rosi tells news that both Naval pilots are inside Sentara Va. Beach General Hospital. One is in critical condition, one is in fair condition. Local CBS is reporting that five buildings suffered extensive damage today. Each building was home to four apartments.

Naval officers told news that this is the most recent jet crash from Oceana since 1996. That year, an F-14B Tomcat fighter crashed when it was unable to effectuate a landing.

Local officials tell news that a search and rescue effort is still underway in the Virginia Beach apartments. Virginia Beach Fire Department Battalion Chief Tim Riley would not detail if he believes people are still trapped. Before the crash, both members of the FA-18 were able to eject promptly.

Geno Clayton, Navy Seal, Remains on Life Support

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Geno Clayton (photo above), a 22 year old Navy Seal who accidentally shot himself in the head, is not dead but on life support. Geno Clayton is the son of Clayton Heating & Air Conditioning Co. owner Gene Clayton. Local news claims that Geno Clayton and a woman had been drinking at a bar this week. Thereafter, they headed back to a house in Pacific Beach.

Investigators claim that, once at the home, Geno handled the gun, pointed it at his head to show the women it wasn’t loaded. He then shot himself accidentally.

Clayton went to Boardman High School in 2007. He had just finished basic SEAL course. He was a graduate of the Navy’s Elite Sea, Air and Land Program.

At midnight Friday, WYTV reported that he was on life support. Original news reports erroneously claimed that Clayton had died. By Friday evening, the news station was reporting that he was on life support.

Commodore Collin P. Green, commander of Naval Special Warfare Group released the following news statement: “On behalf of the entire Naval Special Warfare community, we are deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident and extend both our hearts and prayers to our teammate’s family during this very difficult time.”

Air Force Casket Photo 2011 Prompts Controversy for 37th Training Group

ST LOUIS (LALATE) – The above Air Force casket photo 2011 has prompted controversy and a major investigation today. The U.S. Air Force casket photo features out of frame the words “Da Dumpt, Da Dumpt … . Sucks 2 Be U”. The airmen are part of the 37th Training Group at Lackland in Fort Lee, Virginia, claims the San Antonio Express-News. Gerry Proctor, spokesman for the 37th Training Group at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, confirms the airmen were with 345th Training Squadron at Fort Lee. (The person in the casket is alive and reportedly also part of that squadron.)

The newspaper claims the Air Force Casket photo was snapped on August 23, at Fort Lee Air Transport Apprentice School. The logo in the upper left reads “All American Port Dawgs” — “Port Dog”. Lackland Air Force Base in Texas is investigating the matter, claims the paper.

Air Force Secretary Michael Donley issued a news statement this week denouncing the photo. While photographed in August, the image appeared on Facebook this week.

“We take this matter seriously. [Air Education and Training Command] has initiated a commander directed investigation,” said Donley. “Such behavior is not consistent with our core values, and it is not representative of the airmen I know. It saddens me that this may cause additional grief to the families of our fallen warriors.” The 37th Training Group says their investigation will be concluded in two weeks.

OH-58 Kiowa Warrior Choppers Crash at Joint Base Lewis-McChord

ST LOUIS (LALATE) – The Joint Base Lewis-McChord Washington chopper crash of a OH-58 Kiowa Warrior has killed four. A OH-58 Kiowa Warrior, dubbed a scout helicopter, crashed Monday night. Joint Base Lewis-McChord officials tell news that the Washington State crash was during an evening training mission.

Base officials tell news that two reconnaissance choppers crashed at 8 pm local time last night. Officials would not indicate if both choppers were a OH-58D Kiowa Warrior. Base spokesman J.C. Mathews had no reason for the crash. He additionally did not know if the two choppers crashed independently or collided mid-air.

Maj. Gen. Lloyd Miles, acting senior Army commander at Lewis-McChord, issued a statement to news late last night.”Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and loved ones of the soldiers involved in this tragic accident.” He added “We will conduct a thorough investigation into this incident, and we will do everything in our power to support the families of the brave soldiers who died this evening.”

UPDATE: A second report from Base Lewis-McChord, base spokesman Lt. Col. Gary Dangerfield, claims both helicopters were OH-58 Kiowa choppers. He also believes each helicopter was carrying two soldiers. The fatalities have yet to be identified to news.
