Mark McLeod today is a free man. Chatham County Sheriff Al St Lawrence said McLeod, 53, did nothing wrong.

“If we had heard something about this guy supposedly being a stalker or he had been charged with a felony he wouldn’t have been released.”

St Lawrence tells local press further the following:

“If [Mark McLeod] really is a stalker, yes this would be a concern, but again we were told nothing about any of the comments that McLeod made to Tybee Island arresting officers. And even if we had been told, it wouldn’t have mattered because he was charged with two non-violent misdemeanors and we acted accordingly.”

McLeod is reportedly free on a subpoena signature and due in court in September. Below is video of him at the Miley Cyrus event.

Emma Watson is the latest celebrity with false death rumors. Emma Watson didn’t die. But Emma Watson fake death reports are spreading today as similar reports for Miley Cyrus and Lil Wayne have spread throughout 2009.

As LALATE has been reportedly lately, fake celebrity death reports have changed this summer in two respects -

1. The genre of the celebrity
2. The day of the week the story hits

Celebrity fake death reports in 2008 were dominated by music stars. But since early summer this year, the trend has spread into movie actors. Will sports stars be next?

Additionally, the nature of the reports are now so glaringly fake that it causes one to wonder who is behind these reports. In many cases, they are written virtually the same, with the same storyline, same cause of death, just different name.

But the biggest difference is when these reports are hitting. Cyrus and Lil Wayne in 2008 almost universally hit Sunday afternoons. The rationale - quicker to spread with less people around to deny the claims. But in recent months, the trend has been even midweek. Again, why?

Emma Watson is alive. Rick Astley is alive. Miley is doing great. And Lil Wayne is still kicking well.

Miley Cyrus has been named to VH1 Diva Live! Miley Cyrus joins VH1 Divas 2009 this September from New York.

VH-1 says of Miley today:

Phenomenon Miley Cyrus will be joined by Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis and more for VH1 Divas, set to air live Thursday, September 17 at 9/8c: After a four-year hiatus, VH1 will bring back the legendary live concert event VH1 Divas…

For the first time ever, these leading ladies at the top of their musical game will perform together live at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, New York.

Continuing in Divas tradition, the night will feature a night of unforgettable performances from various performers, presenters and special guests.

Miley Cyrus has a new friend - Ghost Ana in Room 204! Miley Cyrus’ Ghost Ana of Room 204 stayed with the singer last night in her haunted hotel room. But this morning, Cyrus reassured friends one new detail. Ana is an angel, not a ghost.

First, Sunday evening Cyrus twittered to fans that she would be spending the night in haunted room:

“Staying at a haunted hotel with mommy tonight. BOO!”

Miley then updated that mosquitoes had joined her spook fest.

“Nothing better than being eaten alive by mosquitoes. (No sarcasm in this tweet)….Just blogged on Mileyworld. I will be updating about my ghostly experience. Boo!”

Finally, it was time for Cyrus’ Room 204 to have a visitor - Ana! Ana moved in on Cyrus’ boots:

“Look what Ana did(ghost in room 204) My boots were put on top of my suitcase & left with a handprint while I was out.”

Next, quickly Ana moved in taking Miley’s burger cravings captive:

“I think Ana (ghost in 204) has taken over my body with a Burger King demon. I am craving a burger, fries, and chicken sticks. BOO!”

By bedtime, Cyrus couldn’t sleep:

“Goodnight Ana. Sweet dreams…. I can NOT sleep. I want it to be morning. I want to start a new day. I can’t wait to make new mistakes. New memories. Goodnight FO-realz.”

But by morning, everything had changed.  Ana was now no ghost. But an angel! Cyrus wrote of Ana the Angel:

“I am pretty darn chipper for 5:15 am. I had a very peaceful sleep thanks to Ana. She was watching over me. She isnt a “ghost” but an angel.”

Did Miley Cyrus die? No. Are Miley Cyrus dead rumors alive? Very much so once again. Miley Cyrus is not dead.

But you probably knew that already.

In recent weeks, the celebrity fake death spectrum has moved on from Miley Cyrus and Lil Wayne who have both “died” about a dozen times together this year, from planes to trains. While the death reports seem to populate more among music celebrities, an upswing lately is coming in fake film star deaths.

Sunday had been the most common day for the false rumors to spread. In 2008 to early 2009, the fake death stories generally fell on Sunday afternoons or late weekend evenings. Now midweek is common. And gone are the plane, trains, and car crashes. Now popular are hotel rooms — celebrities out of town in some strange hotel.

Rick Astley is alive. Miley is doing great. And Lil Wayne is still kicking well.
