Miami Curfew For Teens Under 17 Prompts Debate

CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – A new Miami curfew for teens under 17 is prompting debate. The new Miami-Dade County curfew began last night. Miami Police tells news, however, that there are key exceptions in place under the new ordinance.

Officials are not indicating to news a reason for the new Miami curfew beyond broadly mentioning public safety. Yet the ordinance won’t impact all teens under seventeen years of age, police confirm to news.

The latest decision will impact generally teens under seventeen years of age during curfew hours of 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday to Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, the curfew will start one hour later, police tell news. The ordinance broadly does not permit such teens to “linger, stay, congregate, move about, wander, or stroll in any public place in Miami-Dade County, either on foot or in a vehicle during curfew hours.

But there are key exceptions, officials remind news. First, assisting in an emergency is permitted. Additionally police will allow teens to travel to and from certain places including but not limited to schools, churches, public sponsored events, and locations of First Amendment expression. Additionally, if the teen is inside their parent’s property or permissibly a neighbor’s home, the curfew won’t apply. Strangely, the ordinance does not allow situations where the teen is permissibly in another person’s home who is not a neighbor.

Sprinklers at NFL Game Recreates Miami Buffalo Wild Wings Commercial

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Sprinklers at an NFL game this weekend recreated a Buffalo Wild Wings commercial. The Miami Dolphins’ sprinklers came on during Sunday’s game. And even Buffalo Wild Wings thought the moment seemed ironic.

In the original Buffalo Wild Wings commercial, an actor says “The only thing that would make this any better is overtime”. At that point, the bartender pushes a button under the bar marked “Miami vs. Seattle”. That button signals a staffer in Miami to head to the “irrigation room”. There he triggers the sprinklers during the Fox telecast.

On Sunday, the Seahawks vs. Dolphins game prompted laughs if that secret button does work at the Buffalo Wild Wings. The sprinklers were turned on. And while, Miami was behind 14-7 before the sprinklers came on, like the commercial, they ultimately won the game.

Buffalo Wild Wings says of the moment “We are really into this Miami/Seattle game. Hit the sprinkler button a little early, though. #oops.”

Edwarda O'Bara Dies after 42 Years in A Coma

CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – A woman who remained 42 years in a coma has died. Edwarda O’Bara died Wednesday, her family confirmed to news. She was 58 years old. O’Bara fell into a coma while she was in high school. A diabetic coma struck her while in school. But mother Kay O’Bara kept her commitment to Edwarda.

After growing ill, Edwarda O’Bara asked her mother to promise that she would never leave her side. Kay O’Bara not only kept that promise but also asserted that the Virgin Mary often visited her in the room.

On Thursday, Edwarda’s sister Colleen O’Bara issued the following statement to news. “It is with great sadness I inform everyone my sister Edwarda is now with the Lord in Heaven. Yesterday while taking care of Edwarda I noticed her looking directly at me and gave me the biggest smile I had ever seen. She then closed her eyes and joined my Mom in Heaven.”

Kay died five years earlier. But her commitment to her daughter was memorialized in a book by Dr Wayne Dryer called “A Promise Is A Promise: An Almost Unbelievable Story of a Mother’s Unconditional Love and What It Can Teach Us.”

Funeral arrangements for Edwarda will be held this coming Tuesday in North Miami. Colleen tells news “Funeral services for Edwarda will be held on Tuesday Nov 27 between 6-9pm at Southern Memorial Park 15000 West Dixie Highway, North Miami, FL 3318 and all are welcome to come say goodbye to her.”

Youth Football Gambling Charges Revealed in Operation Dirty Play

CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – Youth Football gambling charges have been revealed in Operation Dirty Play, a Broward County investigation. The youth football gambling charges was detailed in a recent broadcast of the hit ESPN show Outside the Lines. Now, locals are left in shock over the exposed covert operation.

Why would anyone gamble on teenagers playing football? That remains unclear. But the Broward Sheriff’s Office has arrested nine individuals and charged six persons. The suspects were coaches of teen football games in south Florida.

But these weren’t you average coaches. Brandon Bivins, Darren Brown, Vincent Gray, Brandon Lewis, Brad Parker, La Taurus Fort, Willie Tindal, Darron Bostic and Dave Small have been arrested. Police assert that they coached five to fifteen year olds in games across South Florida. Police claim that the males included ex-convicts with checked pasts.

Bivins served as “coach and president of the Fort Lauderdale Hurricanes”, reports ESPN. But how much money was generated off the scheme? Sheriff Al Lamberti tells news that his investigators found more than thirty-seven thousand in cash stashed in a local barbershop.

Reportedly, families had no idea the scheme was going on “If you’re in the stands looking at it, it just looks like a group of coaches having a conversation, maybe just discussing the game plan or maybe friends, but there’s actual wagers going down,” a source reports to ESPN. The individuals serviced as coaches of the NW Broward Raiders, Lauderhill Lions, Deerfield Beach Rattlers, and Fort Lauderdale Hurricanes.

Simon Cowell Fakes Alex Rodriguez Miami Mansion on X-Factor

CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – Simon Cowell faked Alex Rodriguez’s Miami mansion as his own on last night’s X-Factor. Simon Cowell didn’t just choose any mansion but picked A-Rod home that has dominated news reports since early 2012.

Last night,as picked up by TMZ, the contestants head to the homes of X-Factor judges. While the assumption could be the home is rented by one of the judges, Cowell picked a home that isn’t his.

It remains unclear when Cowell filmed the segment. But in August, the home he picked was headlining national news for its seller and its price tag. “Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez Lists Miami Home for $38 Million” was the headline of many news reports at the time. The home shocked critics at the time because A-Rod was seeking to resell it for a huge profit. He bought it for $24 million while dating Cameron Diaz and wants to resell it for $38 million.

“The 19,861-square-foot home is a heavy hitter, with nine bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and “uninterrupted, panoramic views” of the Miami skyline”, claimed news at the time. Last night, one X-Factor contestant said “We have absolutely no idea who could even own this house? Who could it even possibly be, any of the four judges?” The answer is none of them.
