Since the original MP spun off from the original 90210, a new MP remake would bare no continuity with sister show CW’s 90210 if it simple derives from the original MP series characters. You would basically the new 90210 and MP haven’t not connection unless cross over episodes are deployed on CW.

The original Melrose was a spinoff of the original 90210. Now that 90210 has been remade, will Melrose 2.0 be a spinoff from 90210 2.0 or the original 90210? It has to spinoff from the new 90210. But with original cast members set to return whose storylines bare no connection with the new 90210, how will that be done?

And yes, a certain old MP character is now on the new 90210. What a confusing mess. Of course, the new 90210 is no winner on writing achievements anyway.
