LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Mary Cheney and Heather Poe (photos below) got married Friday. Mary Cheney, * Cheney’s daughter, and Heather Poe got married this morning, local news reports. On Friday morning, the couple tied the knot in Washington. The two have been together for two decades; together they have two children.
One statement was issued by the Cheney family today. “Mary and Heather and their children are very important and much loved members of our family and we wish them every happiness.” The statement added “Mary and Heather have been in a committed relationship for many years, and we are delighted that they were able to take advantage of the opportunity to have that relationship recognized”.

Mary, in turn, wrote on her Facebook page today that she is “very happy to announce that as of this morning, Heather and I are legally married (at least in DC). 20 years to the day after our first date.”
Cheney, 43, and Poe have a son and daughter. Samuel is currently 5 years old, and Sarah is 2. PEOPLE magazine notes that congratulations were posted on Cheney’s Facebook page by political leaders including Mitt Romney and George W. Bush. No wedding photos were released to news.
