Mafia 2 Playboy PICS

NEW YORK (LALATE) – Mafia 2’s use of vintage Playboy pictures is its latest entertainment gaming entry is causing debate over how accurate period gaming should be. In the film industry, period movie have for decades battled to be historically accurate it their use of music, clothing, and even backdrops.

So when Playboy and 2K Games announced a deal this week in which fifty vintage pictures from the magazine would appear in the new Mafia II, a period gangster game for Xbox 360, Playstation, and Windows PC, excitement grew fast. But when five promotional photos were released to the news, suddenly eyebrows raised. What were 1960s pinup girls doing in a 1940s to 1950s setting?

While clearly vintage, the pictures are a decade too late, nearly two decades too late with one from 1967, not resembling women in 1943 to 1957 Empire Bay. The kitchen, where one victim lays dead, resembles the 1940s, certainly not 1967.

The deal is part of the latest “in-game integration” offering hitting the industry. And while developers claim this helps the authenticity of the game, does it really?

Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K said the following “In partnership with Playboy, we can add a unique element of authenticity to the game with vintage images from the magazine, which illustrate the power of influence Playboy’s attitude and culture of that generation.” But which generation? The 1960s or the 1940s?

Hartmann says age is important in the game, but doesn’t seem to stay with it through the images. ” Mafia II has a deep and compelling story, which is decorated with complicated, age, causing the atmosphere.

In fact, the dates of the five pictures released this week are from 1963 to 1967. Connie Mason — Miss June 1963, Kaya Christian — Miss November 1967, Sally Duberson — Miss January 1965, Tish Howard — Miss July 1966 and Susan Denberg — Miss August 1966. The final version offers 50 women.

Carmine Persico Jonathan Pollard

Carmine Persico and Jonathan Pollard are the new men in Bernie Madoff’s life. Weekend at Bernie’s it is not. Mafia head Carmine Persico and spy Jonathan Pollard now share a prison cell with Madoff.

Persico is the famous mobster, and Pollard is the 1987 convicted spy found guilty of spying for Israel. Both have life sentences. Madoff is 71 and is currently serving a 150 year prison sentence.

Persico went by the names of Junior, the Snake, and Immortal. Since the 1970s, Carmine Persico was believed to be the Boss of the Colombo family of the U.S. mafia.

In the 1960s, Persico’s division of the Colombo family was believed the most profitable. Joe Valachi, the first federal cooperator from the Cosa Nostra, testified about Persico, “Whenever business on the streets, Persico was always there.” In May of 1978, Joe Colombo’s shooting prompted the questioning of Persico, but he was set free. After that date, investigators viewed him as the Boss of the Colombo family even though Carmine Persico would intentionally rank himself as Underboss under Vinny Aloi because he knew he was under surveillance.

In 1985, he was added to the Ten Most Wanted List. Two months later, he was arrested. In the years that followed in the 1990s, the Colombo family would again get completely restructured.
