Shawn King and Hector Penate: A report today claims Larry King’s wife Shawn Southwick King has been linked to Hector Penate. Shawn King Southwick and Hector Penate headline a report today, in where else, the National Enquirer.

The paper claims the following:

“The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively Larry King has caught his young wife cheating! Willowy blonde beauty Shawn King, 48, has been carrying on a steamy year-long extramarital affair right under Larry’s nose with hunky Hector Penate, 29, a B-list actor, according to multiple sources.”

The paper claims  “the ENQUIRER first learned about the clandestine affair between the talk show host’s lithesome wife and their son’s baseball coach months ago but we chose not to publish the explosive details until they were corroborated by multiple sources.” No comment by Penate or King.

Michelle Obama told Larry King tonight:

“In these debates, I am so focused on what Barack is saying, you know, and how he is phrasing his words. And I’m really trying to listen to the substance of what he is saying to make sure that I understand what it going on. That these little, you know, sound bites don’t register with me. A lot of times I’m looking around at the faces of the undecided voters in the room, I’m trying to see how they’re reacting. So there is so much going on in a room that a phrase here or there just doesn’t — you know, it just doesn’t resonate.”

On the William Ayer “terrorist” issue, Michelle told Larry the following:

“You know, these issues have come up before. But, the one thing that I’m proud about with Barack is that one of the things he’s been talking about is our tone. And it’s the notion that he says, we can disagree without being disagreeable. And that’s, you know, where he’s trying to get to in this campaign. The notion that we can disagree on some fundamental issues in this country. But, we have to do it without demonizing one another, without labeling one another.”

Michelle Obama said she is proud of Sarah Palin:

“You know, I think she provides an excellent of example of all the different roles that women can and should play. You know, I’m a mother with kids and I’ve had a career and I’ve had to juggle. She’s doing publicly, what so many women are doing on their own privately. What we’re fighting for is to make sure that all women have the choices that Sarah Palin and I have. To make these decision and do it without hurting their families. And we’re in a position now, as I go across the country and I’ve had conversations with working women and many find that they have to do the juggling, but they’re doing it without the support.”

VIDEO! Here’s video of Chris Rock on Larry King last night. Larry King had Chris Rock on to discuss “Kill the Messenger” on HBO Saturday. Rock says to King he would not support Flavor Flav for President.

Says Larry King about Chris Rock last night:

LARRY: Great pleasure to welcome a return visit with Chris Rock, the Emmy-winning comic and actor. His first comedy special in five years, “Kill the Messenger,” will premier on HBO this Saturday night at 9:00 Eastern. He is a supporter of Barack Obama. We’ll touch a lot of politics. We’ll also show you clips from the special. We had a bailout meeting at the White House today.

CHRIS ROCK, COMEDIAN: Really?

KING: Obama and McCain at opposite ends of the table. What do you make of it?

ROCK: What do I make of it? If this was a boxing match, McCain would be holding.

KING: Holding on?

ROCK: Yes. It’s like he got hit really hard in the stomach like, OK. I can’t let him go. He’s going to knock me out. So that’s what appears to be going on right now. Just a hold. Don’t –

KING: Has the financial crisis affected you?

ROCK: Larry, I drove a cab over here tonight. When it’s over, I’m going to try to pick up some more fares. I’m losing everything, Larry.

KING: Really downtrodden?

ROCK: Yes, it’s really bad.

KING: Have HBO paid you already?

ROCK: They have paid me, but the money is worthless now. Haven’t you heard? Your money’s worth nothing.

KING: You must be — forgetting endorsements — proud that at this stage in our history a black man is running for president on a major ticket.

ROCK: Um, you know what? I’m proud Barack Obama’s running for president. You know? if it was Flavor Flav would I be proud? No. I don’t support Barack Obama because he’s black.

KING: I said just as a proud feeling. That’s normal.

ROCK: It’s a proud feeling because of the character of the man. You know, I was — I supported John Kerry and, you know — and what’s my man? Al Gore.

KING: Al Gore.

VIDEO! Watch video of Larry King’s interview of Ahmadinejad. Larry King interviewed Iran’s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s last night. Mahmoud Ahmadineja spoke with Larry surrounding his United Nation’s 63rd General Assembly appearance.

LARRY: Mr. President, thank you for coming. Do you like coming to New York?

AHMADINEJAD: In the name of God the compassionate, the merciful, well, this is the headquarters of the United Nations, and it is essential that we come here to meet with the heads of state and to promote the cooperation that is required for the management of world affairs today.

Of course, I am also extremely interested to speak with the American people.

LARRY: But there has been such hostility between the two countries, or at least the leaders of the two countries, do you think you can make steps forward in that regard?

AHMADINEJAD: Well, of course, the hostility has not been from our end. Up to this day, we have always been interested in having friendly relations. The hostility has been one-sided on the part of American politicians. And our nation has always defended itself against that hostility.

But it’s clear that nations do not have any problems with one another and we don’t have any issues with the American people. But when the American government uses the language of force, we have no choice but to defend against it.

We’ve done a lot, if you will recall, I sent a letter to Mr. Bush. The letter can be the start of a fresh endeavor and relation. We assisted in Iraq to establish safety and security as well as a new government.

And I also ask that we talk with one another in the United Nations.

Is Larry King heading for a divorce? Online chatter this morning is asking if CNN’s Larry King is set to divorce Shawn Southwick, wife of seven years?

Shawn Southwick is 48. Shawn has been married to the 70+ tv host for 11 years. The two have two kids together.

While there is no indication that the two have split nor heading for the divorce, it remains one of the most talked about question this morning, perhaps driven by a recent National Enquirer (print edition) that claims to the two are set to divorce in the coming weeks.

PUBLISHING. Larry King is coming out with a book. King’s “What Am I Doing Here?” will drop Fathers Day 2009. Larry will cover in his book his childhood in Brooklyn and several marriages.

The book is being published by Harvey Weinstein (LALATE didn’t know that Harvey had a publishing company) on Weinstein Books. It drops Father’s Day 2009.

Good bye CBS, hello Larry King Katie Couric Live?

That’s the chatter today in the WSJ that is reporting that Couric, despite a two year run, has been plagued by record low ratings as host of the CBS Evening News.

And now, even though her contract doesn’t expire till 2011, could be off to be Larry King soon to be successor?

“After two years of record-low ratings, both CBS News executives and people close to Katie Couric say that the “CBS Evening News” anchor is likely to leave the network well before her contract expires in 2011 — possibly soon after the presidential inauguration early next year. Katie Couric and CBS are prepared for her early exit from the network.”
