WASHINGTON (LALATE) – As news of Giovanna Huidobroaka Giovana Huidobro broke in the Jesse Jackson Jr. investigation, Jackson said he and wife Sandi have previously confronted the matter and won’t be commenting on it to news. That however is not stopping Washington news to comment about the scandal, with questions still unclear as to whether or not Jesse Jackson Jr. had an affair with Huidobro.
The context of the revelations are clear; the Illinois Congressman is six weeks away from a re-election ballot and five months away from a possible run as Chicago’s mayor.
And while Jesse Jackson Jr. may not have committed any political ethical violations with conduct toward Huidobro, opponents are quick to denounce his situation, and lack of clarity, in these critical election final weeks. There are two issues behind the Jesse Jackson Jr. Huidobro story – first how did this all surface, and what exactly happened between Jackson and Huidobro.

The revelation about the blond beauty was broke Tuesday in the Chicago Sun-Times. But for LALATE readers and Rod Blagojevich watchers, the story began surfacing in 2008. In 2008, Barack Obama’s senate seat was vacant. Governor Rod Blagojevich was set to appoint a replacement. But in December 2008, news details of an alleged deal between Jackson and Raghuveer Nayak surfaced.
Raghuveer Nayak is described as a campaign fundraiser. He hosted Blago’s Halloween event on October 31. But what did Jackson tell Nayak on October 8? Nayak informed FEDs that Jackson instructed him to raise campaign cash to pay Rod Blagojevich money in exchange for the U.S. Senate seat. News thereafter alleged that Jackson was the mysterious “Senate Candidate 5″, the candidate who claimed to pay funds for the appointment.

In December 2008, a released FBI 76 page indictment claimed Blagojevich “stated he might be able to cut a deal with Senate Candidate 5 that provided Rod Blagojevich” with something “tangible up front.” Jackson denied any wrongdoing. “I am not a target of this investigation”.
Jackson said yesterday in a news statement that the “allegations about fund-raising and the Senate seat are not new. I’ve already talked with the authorities about these claims, told them they were false, and no charges have been brought against me.”
And while that may, or may not, be the end of the Nayak-story, this week it became the start of the Huidobro story. On Tuesday, the Chicago Sun-Times revealed new testimony by Nayak to Feds in 2008. He claims that Jackson instructed him to do two things: offer the governor $6 million for the senate seat appointment, and fly a beautiful blond around on planes for him.
And with that Sun Times revelations, so took off the Huidobro story. Nayak claims Jackson instructed him to, and he did, fly Huidobro from Washington D.C. to Chicago, twice. Giovana Huidobro is a D.C. hostess and bikini model.
Opponents quickly Tuesday issued statements denouncing the conduct. Isaac Hayes, (R), nominee for Congress, said “Mr. Nayak has indicated that he personally received instructions from Mr. Jackson to offer a bribe to Rod Blagojevich.” Jackson’s own former political consultant issued the following statement to news. Delmarie Cobb said “I don’t think he could possibly run for mayor at this point. If you get another picture of him that he is the philanderer and he is womanizing, then that changes everything.”
So what exactly happened between Huidobro and Jackson? It depends on which person you ask. The Chicago Sun Times used the expression “social acquaintance”. Jackson also used those words. “The reference to a social acquaintance is a private and personal matter between me and my wife that was handled some time ago. I know I have disappointed some supporters and for that I am deeply sorry.” Jackson doesn’t explain what is a social acquaintance.
Issac Hayes used the word “affair”. “Any issues of illicit affairs is something I don’t want to address,” said Hayes. ABC News used “mistress”. “Jackson, Jr.’s mistress was revealed on the front page of the daily newspaper hours before his politician wife’s birthday party.”
