Ilias Kasidiaris Slap Prompts Greek Politician Arrest Warrant

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Ilias Kasidiaris slap has prompted a manhunt for the Greek politician. Ilias Kasidiaris is wanted by Athens prosecutors for his slap of Liana Kanelli, MSNBC reports. Ilias Kasidiaris remains in hiding while a warrant for his arrest has been issued.

Kasidiaris repeatedly slapped Kanelli, 58, during a telecast of a morning show in Athens Thursday. Moments earlier, Kasidiaris, 31, had thrown water at Rena Dourou. Ilias called Kanelli a “circus act”.

The show’s host Giorgos Papadakis had to break up the fight. Golden Dawn however refused to apologize for the controversy. “Golden Dawn continues its fight for a strong nationalist movement against everyone, and naturally against the orphans of Marx, who dominate the (television) channels and are playing a dirty propaganda game.” The group added “If you want us to condemn our co-fighter for a truly unfortunate moment, you should first condemn the insults and the attack by Liana Kanelli, otherwise you are nothing but sad hypocrites following orders.”

The encounter happened Thursday. But today, Ilias wrote on Facebook that the will sue his victims. “The events that took place on Thursday morning on ‘Antenna TV’ were staged with the sole aim of provoking an extreme reaction on my part.” He added “I am sorry that without intending to, I got mixed up in a case that has confused public opinion and was aimed at hitting Golden Dawn.”

He says he will sue the person he slapped. “I will go the prosecutor in person to sue those behind the illegal actions that have taken place in the last two days.”
