Ike Turner : Died of an Overdose.

Posted on January 16th, 2008 in Ike Turner by lalate

Sad, but true. Ike Turner’s cause of death was revealed moments ago. The music LEGEND died of, yes, an overdose.

He died last month according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office from a cocaine overdose.

Also cited, hypertensive cardiovascular disease and pulmonary emphysema.

Sad to report. Ike is one of the greats and will be missed.

R.I.P. Ike Turner. St Louis Needs to Honor him.

Posted on December 12th, 2007 in Ike Turner, St Louis by lalate

Ike Turner has died, apparently in his sleep.

Perhaps maybe the City of St Louis will honor the man in his death the way the City didn’t during his life.

His image will forever be wrongly identified as the image protrayed in the movie “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” based on Tina Turner’s autobiography.

Everyone should write St Louis Mayor Francis Slay that turned down a request to make Sept. 2 “Ike Turner Day” this year. Cathy Smentkowski, an aide to Slay, said the request “was brought to the mayor’s attention, he did not feel comfortable issuing it.”

Pathetic. How about now Mayor Hater?

Festival director Dawne Massey told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch at that time. “He helped put St. Louis rhythm and blues on the map.”

So long Ike.

We’ll miss you, in Los Angeles and in St Louis and worldwide
