Bad news Zac Efron fans. High School Musical 4 is back without Zac Efron. High School Musical 4 won’t even be a theatrical movie. Instead, High School Musical 4 returns to the Disney Channel with a new cast.
Sad.
Disney Channel today says the special will air in 2010 and take place after the original cast graduated and feature a rivalry between fictional high schools in Albuquerque, N.M.
Yawn.

Tammin Sursok and Nolan Gerard Funk in Nickelodeon’s Spectacular play the Nick version of the Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron’s parts in Disney’s High School Musical.
Spectacular premieres tonight and many say it’s better than Camp Rock.
She talks to MTV about her upcoming role:
On adapting to her character, Courtney: “I’d never been able to play a comedic role with such an A-type personalty before. So I watched a lot of films like Grease and Election. And Courtney’s definitely a perfectionist, so I found the character’s neuroses and the little things that perfectionists do and adapted them to myself. It also came down to how she walked. She walks really upright which is not how I walk. So every time I’d walk upright, I would morph into her.”
On show choirs: “I’m from Australia, and we didn’t have show choir there, so I hadn’t even heard of it! It’s kind of an American phenomenon. But it sounds like so much fun! I would’ve been it!”
On kissing her co-star, Nolan Gerard Funk: “The kiss was supposed to take place on stage, and then there was back-and-forth banter about where the kiss would take place. We didn’t know where we were going to kiss, so Nolan was like ‘Why don’t we just do both?’ I was like ‘Mmhm. Sure.’ But we went for it right at the end, which seemed more appropriate.”
On her music career: “I did music in Australia and London, and I’ve been approached by a few different record labels, but I haven’t figured out where I wanna go. Sometimes if you wanna do music, you have to put your whole heart and soul into it, and I just don’t know where I wanna go with that right now.”
On her Valentine’s Day plans: “I’ll still be in New York, so we’ll see what happens. Maybe I’ll be asked to dinner!”

KayCee Stroh is married! KayCee Stroh of High School Musical (pop-and-lock girl Martha Cox) got married to Ben Higginson. The Stroh wedding was in Salt Lake City Friday and featured High School Musical stars Monique Coleman, Ryne Sanborn and Bart Johnson.
Higginson owns a production company. The couple met in 2007, got engaged in May 2008, and finally married this weekend!
The couple reports they plan to move to Los Angeles.

Efron and High School could pull in number 1 in the boxoffice a second week in a row, reported LALATE to you earlier today.
But even if it doesn’t, Efron already has something else next great on his plate. Efron will appear in a remake of Footloose. Efron will get a mid seven figure for the Footloose movie.
Older readers will remember that Footloose was a massive hit led by Kevin Bacon. “HSM” director Kenny Ortega will direct again and this time Efron will get script approval. Bacon says Efon is perfect for the part.

Estimates tonight predict that Zac Efron should lead High School Musical 3 to number 1 in the boxoffice its second week in a row this Halloween weekend.
In its first three days, HSM3 pulled in $42 million, the highest opener ever for a movie musical. Some are expecting a $20 million, or higher, boxoffice for High School’s second weekend in the U.S..

VIDEO! Here’s video of Chris Warren Jr from High School Musical 3! Chris Warren plays Zeke Baylor in High School Musical 3. Chris is the son of Brook Kerr who plays Whitney Russell on Passions for NBC.
Chris Warren Jr, who is super charismatic, has been in the movies Love & Basketball, Hardball, and of course High School Musical 2.
Chris also has done the soaps, playing Jimmy Ramírez from 2004 to 2005 on The Bold and the Beautiful. And for Disney fans, you might remember Warren from an episode of Zoey 101.
And he’s a local Los Angeles kid - playing reportedly linebacker and running back on his high school football team at Chaminade College Preparatory School.
