Hari Puttar lawsuit

“You’re a lawsuit, Harry!” The legal wizards at Warners have brought a lawsuit over release of Hari Puttar. Mirchi Movies is releasing movie “Hari Puttar - A Comedy of Terrors” in India but Warners wants to cast a spell to make it go away.

A spokesperson for Warner Bros reportedly
said: “We have recently commenced proceedings against parties involved in the production and distribution of a movie entitled Hari Puttar.

“Warner Bros values and protects intellectual property rights. However, it is our policy not to discuss publicly the details of any ongoing litigation.”

Some reports say the movie is closer to “Home Alone” than Harry Potter (pictured above).

Mirchi Movies’ chief operating officer, Munish Purii, said: “We registered the Hari Puttar title in 2005, and it’s unfortunate that Warner has chosen to file a case so close to our film’s release. In my opinion, I don’t think our title has any similarity or links with Harry Potter.”

The lawsuit starts in Bombay’s High Court August 25.

Get ready Harry Potter fans. A new BOOK! “The Tales of Beedle the Bard” from J.K. Rowling was JUST announced! Tales of Beedle the Bard was mentioned in the seventh Harry Potter Book being left to Hermione Granger by Professor Albus Dumbledore.

Now it can be yous in a new book dropping Decembe 4.Tales of the Beedle the Bard wil be released as a book of book of wizarding fairy tales in December with $8 million of its proceeds going to charity.

“The new edition will include the Tales themselves, translated from the original runes by Hermione Granger, and with illustrations by me, but also notes by Professor Albus Dumbledore, which appear by generous permission of the Hogwarts Headmasters’ Archive,” Rowling said in a statement.

VIDEO! Watch the Half Blood Prince video just released! Hero Fiennes-Tiffin is AMAZING in this trailer! The trailer is making the Harry Potter fan in all of us including LALATE super excited.

From a film making standpoint, the lighting and coloring is spectacular. But in less than 2 minutes in length, the Half Blood Prince Video makes you really want to see more.

It’s just great.

In Half Blood Prince, Hero Fiennes-Tiffin plays a young Tom Riddle. (Isn’t he incredible!) Earlier today, you saw that first picture here of Tom Riddle, that eventually becomes Lord Voldemort.

Elder Voldemort is done by Ralph Fiennes, and the teenage Voldemort by Frank Dillane.

Half Blood Prince Trailer!

VIDEO! The trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince gets released today and everyone can’t wait. The first pictures of the Half Blood Prince Trailer hit the net just now.

Shocking, is Hero Fiennes-Tiffin playing a young Tom Riddle. The big revelation is a reported shot of the young Tom Riddle, that grows up to become Lord Voldemort.

Elder Voldemort is played by Ralph Fiennes, and now 11 year old version is played by Hero Fiennes-Tiffin, the actor’s nephew, seen above. In fact, viewers will be able to see a third version, a teenage Voldemort, still going by Tom Riddle, played by Frank Dillane.

The sixth Potter film opens November 21. But tonight at 9 pm EST online and here at LALATE you will be able to see the new Half Blood Prince trailer.

Harry Potter Prequel Book

The 800 word hand written Prequel to Harry Porter book by J.K. Rowling, first profiled here on LALATE, has sold for $49,000 at a charity auction moments ago.

The charity auction benefitted “English PEN” and Dyslexia Action. The book today sold for 25,000 pounds, far less than a similar auction in December that nabbed an enormous 1.95 million pounds.“I had great fun writing the card and I’m absolutely delighted that it has raised 25,000 pounds for two such worthy causes,” said Rollings.

Today’s book was set at a time before Harry Potter was alive and is about Sirius Black and Harry’s father James. The book ends with the line “From the prequel I am not working on — but that was fun!”

Harry Potter PREQUEL!

“You’re a PREQUEL HARRY!” Harry Potter is getting a prequel book from JK Rowling.JK Rowling is one of LALATE’s favorite celebrities for all the great charity work she does. Now Rowling has written a prequel that will be auctioned off for charity. It’s less than 800 words.

“We never dreamed that J.K. Rowling would donate something so precious, and we’re incredibly grateful,” said Gerry Johnson, managing director of Waterstone’s, that is organizing the charity.

A 93-word storycard from Rowling sold in 2002 for $53,000. Thereafter, seven hand-written copies of “The Tales of Beedle the Bard,” were autioned, one nabbed $3.9 million in 2007.

The auction beneifts the Dyslexia Action and English PEN, a writers’ association.

How much will be prequel sell for? LALATE is predicting it will go for over $4 million!

Don’t mess with a Harry Potter alumn! British actor Rupert Grint who stars as Ron Weasley in Harry Potter has the quote of the month for Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton. Somewhere this needs to be framed.

Says Grint to the Sun: “I met Lindsay last summer and she talked about herself a lot. She said she was going to win an Oscar before she turns 25. I just kept thinking, ‘But you can’t act’.”

CLASSIC!!!

And Paris Hilton? He wants to NEVER meet her. “I haven’t met Paris and don’t want to either. She and Lindsay are the type of girls you need to stay away from.”

Guess you won’t see Grint in some reality show looking for his next best friend outside a nightclub anytime soon!

J.K. Rowling Once Contemplated Suicide before Harry Potter

The BBC reports that J.K. Rowling told an Edinburgh University student magazine that she once contemplated suicide before writing Harry Potter.She says it occured in the early 1990s, after separation from her first husband, Portuguese journalist Jorge Arantes.

“We’re talking suicidal thoughts here, we’re not talking ‘I’m a little bit miserable,’ ” Rowling told student Adeel Amini

“Mid-twenties life circumstances were poor and I really plummeted. The thing that made me go for help was probably my daughter …

“She was something that earthed me, grounded me, and I thought, this isn’t right, this can’t be right, she cannot grow up with me in this state.”
