“Liz and Dick”: Lindsay Lohan, Grant Bowler Team Up Again

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – “Liz and Dick” will team up Grant Bowler and Lindsay Lohan, again. Grant Bowler and Lindsay Lohan are confirmed for the upcoming Lifetime movie of the week Liz and Dick, producers confirmed to news Friday. Bowler was added last week after a reported excellent screen-test opposite the previously casted Lohan. Grant Bowler and Lindsay Lohan both appeared on Ugly Betty. But neither ever shared a scene.
Producer Larry Thompson said that Bowler is age-appropriate for casting. Even though Bowler is 18 years old that Lohan, Thompson tells news that is consistent with Burton and Taylor. “Richard Burton was quite older than Elizabeth Taylor. This is from a visual point of view just about equal to Liz and Dick. Visually speaking it is a perfect match.â€
Thompson tells news that a recent screen-test for Bowler was so good opposite Lohan that Bowler was given the job on the spot. “We had seen him [Bowler] on tape and liked him but wanted to confirm the chemistry between the two. But this morning we had Lindsay and Grant come into a room at Lifetime and the chemistry exploded. It was just Fourth of July firecrackers going off in the room. We knew from the chemistry that Liz and Dick live again.â€
He said it only took three scenes for the screen-test for producers to make their decision. “They read three separate scenes from the movie. Their chairs were initially a bit apart but each scene they brought chairs closer. Arms brushed together. The scene didn’t require kissing. He [Bowler] brings enormous testosterone and sensitivity.â€
Bowler most recently appeared as Mason Massey in GCB. “I never expected to be given the opportunity to play Richard Burton. I am thrilled, honored and excited,” Grant said in a news statement today. “I look forward to working with Lindsay Lohan on this movie.”
