GLENDALE (LALATE) – The Glendale Fire 2013 today (fire map below) has hit the Harvey Road area and is spreading near the Chevy Chase Canyon. Officials report that a Glendale Fire today May 3, 2013 was spotted shortly before 3 pm near the 134 Freeway.
The fire is striking off the 134 east freeway, residents report. Quick evacuation orders were issued moments ago. Mandatory evacuations orders have been issued for Chevy Chase Canyon and sections around Harvey Road. The brush fire is reportedly close to Wilson Terrace and Harvey in Glendale, situated near both the 2 and 134 Freeway. The 3 alarm fire was first spotted by residents shortly after 2:30 pm local time today.
In a news statement moments ago, LAFD reports that a blaze is being battled at Westbound 134 Freeway at Harvey Road. Thirty-seven firefighters are on scene along with four helicopters.
LAFD reported the blaze as a Vegetation Fire, issuing a news statement at 3 PM PST today. “UPDATE: WB 134 Freeway x Harvey Dr* Now a total of 37 LAFD FF assisting including 4 helicopters. UPDATE: Glendale fire is now reporting road closures: southbound 2 to westbound 134, Holly Street closed, Harvey closed at westbound 134 as well.
