Victor Cruz Hit, Contract Deal Negotiations Prompt Debate

Victor Cruz Hit, Contract Deal Negotiations Prompt Debate

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A Victor Cruz hit by Ryan Clark during the Steelers vs Giants game is prompting debate today. For the Cruz hit, Clark got an unnecessary roughness call. But was hit legal or improper? The debate is heating up as Victor Cruz contract negotiations are still underway with the Giants.

Clark received a 15 year penalty for the Victor Cruz hit Sunday. After the play, CBS replayed the video repeatedly. But as Frank Schwab notes, the replay video didn’t give much clarity to viewers Sunday. Will the league have a different opinion Monday? “Clark didn’t go for Cruz’s head, nor did he use his head to strike the blow. He used his shoulder to hit Cruz in the ribs”, Schwab wrote

Just last week, Cruz told news that he has still not reached a new contract with the Giants. Cruz’s reps told news that the “structure” of the contract has been agreed upon. But local news is reporting that a deal is not close but will still be reached.

“The Giants have a strong history of identifying and securing their core players, and the injury history of fellow star wideout Hakeem Nicks could perhaps work in Cruz’s favor as well. But while Cruz is pleased with the progress the sides have made, the sides are not on the cusp of a long-term contract and there are several hurdles still to overcome” reports Jason La Canfora.

Giants vs. Cowboys 2012: Eli Manning Takes on Tony Romo

score live Giants vs. Cowboys 2012: Eli Manning Takes on Tony Romo

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Giants vs. Cowboys 2012 game (live score below) will give the Cowboys their latest chance to turn this season around. The Cowboys are 3-3 before Sunday’s showdown, while the Giants have won five of their first seven games this season.

As the Giants vs. Cowboys 2012 take to the field today (start time 4:25 PM EST), Dallas is hoping to improve on their at-home record. The Cowboys have lost one of two game at home this season, while the Giants have won two of three games on the road.

The big difference remains at quarterback. Romo has delivered more interceptions than touchdown passes this season. But with more than 1600 yards, Romo has produced an impressive sixty-eight percent completion rate, officials tell news.

Manning, however, hasn’t been as plagued by interceptions this season. Eli has delivered twelve touchdown passes and seven interceptions, over more than two thousand passing yards. That has resulted in a sixty-four percent completion rate.

The key for the Giants of course has been Victor Cruz. With fifty receptions this season, Cruz has produced more than six hundred yards receiving and seven touchdown catches, news analysts note.

Austin and Bryant lead the Cowboys on receiving, officials remind news. The two have a combined sixty-one receptions over more than eight hundred yards, and six touchdown catches.

Manning tells news, however, that the Giants still need to improve on both rushing and receiving. “When you have the opportunity to play a team again, you want to go out there and have a better performance, since you lost.” He adds “We feel that we can play better than we did the first time.” For live score updates today, click HERE.

Redskins vs. Giants 2012: RG3 Battles Eli Manning

score live Redskins vs. Giants 2012: RG3 Battles Eli Manning

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Sunday’s Redskins vs. Giants 2012 game (live score below) will feature a RG3 battle against Eli Manning. RG3 is struggling to get a winning season currently. With a 3-3 start, RG3 has, however, only lost one game on the road. Manning, however, has only lost one game at home.

The Redskins vs. Giants 2012 (start time 1 pm EST) game is Manning’s chance to extend the team’s start to 5-2. But Manning has been battling too many turnovers this season. At quarterback, Eli has a sixty-four percent start this season. That’s compared to RG3 with a seventy-one percent start.

While Griffin has delivered more than 1300 passing yards, Manning is approaching two thousand. Manning has impressed news with eleven passing touchdowns this season but upset critics with his five passing interceptions. RG3, however, has only given up two picks this season with five touchdowns passing.

The RG3 double threat has been improving this season as well. Griffin has six rushing touchdowns. That adds to Morris’ five for Washington this season. And while the Redskins have eleven rushing touchdown overall, the Giants only have six.

Tom Coughlin addressed the troubles the Giants have been facing. He told news this week “We haven’t done very well in the division.” He added “So, if we’re going to do something in the division, we’ve got to get going.” Giants DE Justin Tuck agrees. “Against a team like this, an offense like this, you have to be very focused on our keys, everybody has to be on the same page.” For live score updates today click HERE.

Giants vs 49ers 2012: Eli Manning Battles Alex Smith

score live Giants vs 49ers 2012: Eli Manning Battles Alex Smith

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – When the Giants vs 49ers 2012 game (live score below) starts Sunday, Eli Manning will be seeking his fourth win. But with an undefeated record at home, Alex Smith is hoping to advance San Francisco to a 5-1 start.

The Giants vs 49ers 2012 game (start time 4:25 PM EST) will deliver two teams with far different defense records this season. San Francisco has been giving up an average of fourteen points per game. But the Giants have been giving up twenty-two points.

Manning and Smith have had impressive starts this season. Smith has delivered eight touchdown passes and one interception. That has resulted in a sixty-nine percent completion rate with more than one thousand yards. Manning, in contrast, has delivered ten touchdown passes and five interception. His completion rate is over sixty-five percent resulting in more than one thousand five hundred passing yards.

The critical difference for San Francisco today will be battling Victor Cruz. In thirty-seven receptions this season, Cruz has delivered more than four hundred yards and five touchdowns.

The Giants, in turn, need to be able to battle Frank Gore. His seventy-nine carries for the 49ers have resulted in more than four hundred yards and four touchdowns this season.

Giants Chris Snee tells news that today’s game evokes memory of the championship game showdown last season. “The game was certainly something that we thought about all (offseason) even though we won the Super Bowl and we beat them in that game. We still walked away saying that we didn’t play well, we didn’t do our job up front. That can motivate you though the offseason.” For live score updates today, click HERE.

Browns vs Giants 2012: Eli Manning Hopes to Extend Winning Streak

score live Browns vs Giants 2012: Eli Manning Hopes to Extend Winning Streak

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Browns vs Giants 2012 (live score below) game today worries Eli Manning. While the Browns haven’t won a game this season, Manning says the Giants can’t let the Browns change that this weekend.

In advance of Sunday’s Browns vs Giants 2012 game (start time 10 am PST), Manning told news “It’s a lot of football left and we’ve got to worry about Cleveland and get back to winning and there’s no point in getting down now.” Manning also told news “We’ve still got four more divisional games”.

It remains unclear what the Browns are doing with Brandon Weeden at quarterback this season. He has given the team only three passing touchdowns but given his opponents seven interceptions. He also has a mere fifty-three percent completion rate. That has resulted in the Browns’ 0-4 start. Weeden has delivered more than three hundred passing yards to his top two receivers, Little and Massaquoi. But they have only delivered a single touchdown catch.

In contrast, Ahmad Bradshaw tells news that he believes the Giants are unstoppable this season. “We have a great team and we believe in each other”. He added “There’s nothing we can’t handle.”

The key for the Giants has been this season has been its receivers. Victor Cruz has delivered nearly four hundred yards receiving. That has resulted in two touchdown passes in thirty-two receptions. Hakeem Nicks, in contrast, has delivered one touchdown pass in fourteen receptions. That has resulted in more than two hundred yards. For live score updates today, click HERE.

Santonio Holmes MRI Results Due on Foot Injury Today

Santonio Holmes MRI Results Due on Foot Injury Today

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Santonio Holmes MRI results are due this morning on his foot injury. Holmes did not suffer a knee injury as first reported. But there is optimism for Holmes going into the MRI today because of X-ray results last night.

ESPN is reporting news that Santonio Holmes’ x-ray results were negative last night. Rich Cimini reports that Holmes’ left foot showed no break during an x-ray examination last night. But Holmes will still undergo MRI testing.

Holmes was spotted wearing a walking boot after his exit from MetLife Stadium Sunday, reports ESPN news. “That’s really too bad,” Sanchez told news last night. “You’d love him to hang on to the ball, but at the same time the guy’s going down and hurt himself and kind of assumed the play was over so, another tough play.”

Meantime, is Tim Tebow set to start for the Jets instead of Mark Sanchez? No, says Rex Ryan. “I’m not ready to make a quarterback change,” Ryan told Jason Cole. “We have to get better play at quarterback. We have to get better at a lot of things. You look at yourself first and there are things that clearly we all need to do.”
