Gas Can Mom Sandra Ramirez Disputes Child Car Seat Claim
LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – “Gas Can Mom” Sandra Ramirez has something in common with Tanning Bed Mom; Sandra Ramirez claims that she is the victim of false charges about her child and erroneous news reports. Sandra Ramirez has been dubbed “Gas Can Mom”; but she claims that the above picture dominating news today is misleading.
Ramirez doesn’t dispute that her gas can was strapped into her car seat, not her child. But she said her teenage son came up with the idea, not her. That son was in the car when Ramirez was stopped.
But where was the toddler during all this? The toddler is photographed in the backseat, not in a car seat. But Ramirez says there is allegedly more to the story.
She claims that, after officers pulled her over, the toddler was in the front seat and buckled up. However, during the writing of the ticket, she claims the child undid the seat belt and jumped into the back seat.
The officer didn’t believe the story and issued her another citation. Gas Can Mom is due back in court June 29. She says she will sell the car and dispute the claim.
She tells KDVR “My son was in a seat belt as I (was) getting pulled over. He’s a very smart guy. He can unbuckle his seat belt. He jumped into the backseat on the other side and put on his ‘big boy’ seat belt.â€
