Gage Edward, Jeff Lewis Still Together Despite Flipping Out over Spring Oak

Posted: October 9th, 2012 in Gage Edward, Jeff Lewis by LALATE

Gage Edward, Jeff Lewis Still Together Despite Flipping Out over Spring Oak

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Are Gage Edward and Jeff Lewis still together? Tonight Jeff Lewis and Gage Edward debate splitting up living arrangements tonight because of one twist: Spring Oak. The two are still together. But on tonight’s Flipping Out episode, they can’t agree about where to live.

Jeff Lewis went and purchased Spring Oak. But Gage Edward, Jeff Lewis’ boyfriend and the most disliked cast member of the 2011 season, doesn’t want to move into Spring Oak.

Gage tells Jeff that he doesn’t like Spring Oak. Jeff’s reaction is that Gage should split, and get his own apartment. “You know, if you want you move somewhere, else you can. But this is where I am moving. So if you want to look for an apartment, you can do that now.”

Gage earlier tells news that “When Jeff bought Spring Oak that was a giant F- to Gramercy. You are not going to move in. Sorry.” Gage tells news that, he feels, Jeff made decisions without asking him first.

Gage says “This is not what I signed up for. We have been together for over three years. What does it mean that you went and bought Spring Oak and just told me?” Gage is furious and not happy. Gage further tells news  “My resistance into moving into Spring Oak is about starting a family…there is not really room for a kid here. Where is the kid .. going to sleep. I thought we were starting a family.”

Jeff Lewis on Flipping Out Fires Jenni Pulos?

Posted: September 6th, 2011 in Flipping Out, Gage Edward, Jeff Lewis, Jenni Pulos by LALATE

Jeff Lewis on Flipping Out Fires Jenni Pulos

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Jeff Lewis on Flipping Out fires Jenni Pulos? At least that’s what Bravo wants fans to believe. This season, Jenni Pulos has been insulted by Stacey Farish; Jenni has watched as Jeff Lewis’ boyfriend, Gage Edward, has sought to fire virtual the entire cast; and Jenni has been told by Chaz Dean that she needs to become a WEN girl and remove her hair extensions.

But tonight, does Jenni get fired? The clip suggesting that Jenni is on the firing block is a bit unbelievable. On BravoTv.com, Pulos even tells news and fans “Next week a curly-haired head is maybe on the chopping block”.

Jeff meets with Jenni under false pretenses. Of course, since Gage Edward has come on this show, false pretenses is a regular storyline. What you see and what actually transpires are two different things. Gage told Sarah he didn’t know why she was fired, while he pursued her termination. Gage acted like he didn’t want Jett to be fired, when he had voted for his removal.

In fact, strangely enough, when you look at BravoTv.com, of “Bios” for cast members for this season, guess whose name and face appears first for Flipping Out? One guess – it’s not Jeff Lewis.

When the season started, there seven cast members. Now there are five (including Jeff). If Jenni was fired, there would be basically no reason to watch Flipping Out ever again. “What is this big date about?” Jenni asks Jeff tonight. “I know you wouldn’t ask me out unless there is angle.”

Jeff responds “There is not angle, I wanted to thank you for stepping up, for working four days a week for me… I’m grateful, and that’s one part of this dinner.”

Because without missing a heartbeat, Jeff jumps from thanking Jenni to telling her she is completely replaceable. “I started looking for a replacement”. He then tells Jenni “she is a bit older [than you] and doesn’t have distractions.” He adds “she is not pursuing another career, not dating anyone, and doesn’t have pets.”

Jenni is about to laugh and responds “is dating someone a distraction?” Yes, Jeff doesn’t think his dating Gage has been a distraction this season. Edward has been a terrible distraction to Flipping Out this season.

Jeff responds to Jenni “Yes, dating, that is a distraction in my book … Before I made her an offer I wanted to see if u wanted to come back in a full time basis …. I would need a commitment from you.”

Jenni gets furious and says “I get a little upset when you tell me I haven’t been committed to you.” Jeff then uses the bizarre words “we are in a situation now, this is not a threat …if I have to hire someone else, you will most likely be let go.”

Flipping Out’s season finale is tonight. Bravo has yet to indicate if the show will be back for another season. Between season three and season four, Flipping Out’s overall ratings skyrocketed. This season, ratings haven’t improved at the same rate.

It remains unclear how much Bravo is attentive to fan reactions. But this season fans have disliked Stacey Farish and Gage Edward. Most fans have been critical of Bravo’s decision to lower Pulos’ on-screen airtime and increase Gage Edward, who is probably the most boring personality on Bravo currently.

Jeff’s nuisances and comedic mannerisms have been lost this season. The question is whether Flipping Out will be lost in next season’s Bravo lineup as well.

Flipping Out Ratings Not Growing Substantially Following Gage Edward Addition

Flipping Out Ratings Not Growing Substantially Following Gage Edward Addition

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Flipping Out is not growing substantially in overall ratings for the season compared to its exponential growth last season. When Flipping Out season 4 concluded, Nielsen Media Research reported to news that the Jeff Lewis series had increased substantially in ratings since season three. This season, however, has not experienced substantial ratings growth. But it has experienced a series of dramatic cast changes which have displeased viewers.

Flipping Out fans applauded when Bravo confirmed Jeff Lewis and Co were returning for their fifth season. Producers proudly told news at the time that, last season, “the fourth season of “Flipping Out” was its highest rated ever in total viewers, averaging 1.49 million total viewers.” In fact, last season experienced “double digits [growth in the ratings] from season three.”

This season, there definitely hasn’t been any double digits ratings growth overall for Jeff Lewis amid the addition of his boyfriend Gage Edward, firings of two staffers, and depiction of client Stacey Farish.

While Nielsen reported an average of 1.49 million viewers per episode last season, Flipping Out hasn’t surpassed that that mark substantially in recent episodes, according to recently released ratings numbers from August 24 and August 17. However, Bravo reports that the 18-49 demographic is increasing. On August 10, Bravo claimed that a recent episode drew 991,000 viewers in the key adult 18-49 demo, “which is a series high for everyone’s favorite house flipper.”

It remains unclear what has prompted overall ratings for Flipping Out to not increase this season. But online reaction has been exceptionally negative about Stacey Farish and Gage Edward.

One viewer recently wrote “Even Zoila got it right and told Gage he was the “silent enemy”. Gage toils behind the scenes to get someone fired, then when Lewis fires them, Gage acts like he doesn’t know why or what. Sneaky and two faced.”

Another added “I really don’t care for Gage. I’m sure we’ll hear from Jeff that it was the editing that made many people dislike Gage. However, I doubt that.”

Most viewers have complained that the charming, hilarious nuisances of Jeff Lewis have been lost in the show’s distinct changes this season. While cameras allowed Jeff and Jenni Pulos to inspire and entertain us in previous seasons, this season those cameras are more focused on Gage Edward, Stacey Farish, and others.

Is Flipping Out losing its charm or are producers losing focus? “Flipping Out is losing its edge and charm” wrote one recent viewer. “Lewis use to have some heart hiding beneath all of his ratings but now with Edward in his life it’s all gone. The show has run its course.” What do you think? What changes would you change to the show?

Stacey Farish Battles Jenni Pulos, Gage Edwards Faces Backlash

Stacey Farish Battles Jenni Pulos, Gage Edwards Faces Backlash

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Stacey Farish battles Jenni Pulos tonight, while Gage Edwards, Jeff Lewis’ boyfriend, is battling backlash from Flipping Out fans. “Stacey of Sunshine Terrace” is back tonight on Flipping Out, but this time in a wig. After viewers were upset with Stacey’s insults, tonight Jenni is ready to battle.

As first exclusively reported on LALATE, Stacey Farish is apparently VP of media and live entertainment for the LA Times. When visiting her at Sunshine Terrace tonight, Jeff Lewis says tonight that Farish “likes to express herself through her clothing, jewelry and hair.” He adds that “she has a fondness for wigs.” Additionally, she has had a fondness for insulting Jenni, episode by episode.

Since the first time Stacey Farish appeared this season, viewers have been enraged. First, viewers are perplexed why Lewis kept her as a client. If Jeff claims he has too much business, then why didn’t he get rid of her after she insulted Jenni routinely. Second, other viewers were bothered why the insults were let to air on Bravo. The insults are not entertaining. They don’t make good programming. They ruin the dynamic of Flipping Out.  Finally, fans don’t understand why Farish has gotten so much on air time this season compared to other clients.

When Lewis first appeared on Bravo several years ago, he was a delightful, neurotic, humorous, and consistently entertaining personality. He had nuances and neurotic bits that turned into charming, self-deprecating, extroverted scenes. Jeff understood what was funny. This season of Flipping Out, however, has lost that charm. But at least tonight, Jenni gives us some great remarks.

Stacey Farish says tonight to Jeff “When you are blond, everyone stares at you.” Jenni Pulos is ready for her jab. Why is Stacey Farish wearing a blond wig tonight? Jenni says “It’s her day to be Britney ….. in a few years.”

Returning tonight, to most viewers’ displeasure, is Gage Edward. A quick perusal of BravoTV.com reveals that fans have been using the same adjectives – and references to a particular animal in the Garden of Eden – to describe Gage’s character in this season of Flipping Out. You will have a hard time finding a single viewer who believes that Gage Edward has improved Flipping Out this season.

For some fans, the ideal season finale should end with Jeff kicking Gage out of the house, walking Gage to his SUV parked outside, and telling Gage simply …  “Sorry, but I don’t know what just happened in there.”

Gage Edward and Jeff Lewis Battle Trace Lehnoff Tonight

Gage Edward and Jeff Lewis Battle Trace Lehnoff Tonight

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Whether it’s boyfriend Gage Edward, Jeff Lewis’ employment by Stacey Farish, or the firing of cast member(s), Jeff Lewis’ Flipping Out this season has lost many key ingredients that made this show charming. When LALATE in season one called Jeff Lewis one of the best reality stars on television, it was for his amazing timing, hilarious self-deprecating humor, and his ability to take charming, personal nuisances and turn them into entertaining television programming. Tonight, Bravo’s notion of television entertainment is Jeff calling Trace Lehnoff names. Last week it was watching Lewis allow Stacey Farish to call Jenni Pulos names. Flipping Out has lost its charm. The question is whether Bravo knew that when the show was being taped.

First, the wrath of Gage Edward returns tonight. Last week, he urged Lewis to consider firing Sarah Berkman. Then when she was fired, he was listening in the next room. When she walks out the door, he says he doesn’t know what had just happened and blamed it on some restructuring / downsizing.

Tonight, Gage Edward is back. Jeff Lewis says to Trace “Gage and I want to sit with you and do an impromptu review”. The camera cuts to Gage who has his smirk on his face that is about as unsettling as his remarks to Berkman as she walked out last week.

Trace, however, is ready to rumble. His response to Jeff is “Oh, is this how the conversation with Sarah started.” Lewis responds “Kinda, I think I said the same words.”

Gage Edward Pictures

Before this season, Lewis was furious about some recent graduate on his staff. Lewis told news in advance of his season that “These kids that are getting out of college—they want to be VP in three weeks and they don’t know what it takes to be successful.” Jeff added “They’re impatient, they’re entitled, they’re not willing to put in the work.”

At the time, Lewis didn’t tell news who he was referring to. But tonight, he tells Trace, a recent graduate, the following comments. “I plucked you right of design school cause I saw a talent … I think that has gone to your head. I think there is an arrogance about you that is unnerving.”

Jeff Lewis’ meltdowns have made great programming season to season. But this season, that is a lot of name calling, from Stacey Farish’s remarks about Jenni, to tonight’s remarks about Trace. And yet where is Lewis’ humor? “I found something [in your computer] I hope you can explain” Jeff says.

“This is my closet.” Trace admits he was playing around on his computer, designing his own closet at home, while at work. From there, the explosion erupts. But why?

“So when I leave you alone, I expect you  … to work on client projects and work accordingly! .. Be honest, I want to hear what you have to say!”

While Jeff said tonight’s meeting was “impromptu”, Trace accuses Lewis [and Gage] of staging tonight’s showdown like they did last week. Trace fires back, “[No,] I haven’t had time to prep my thoughts like you have.”

Jeff fumes “I’m going to rely on you… you are not the same humble kid that was working with me two years ago! You have become …  a f— a—le!”

What has happened to Flipping Out? Yes, reality program has drama, and firings, and insults, and some name calling. But if Zoila wasn’t on this show, what would be left that’s humorous? Producers have significantly cut Jenni’s on screen time, allowed her to be the brunt of insults from Farish, while beefing up Gage’s on screen time, in which he scene by scene plots his next move.

Bravo says of tonight’s episode “When he discovers that someone has been doing private design consultations on the side, things get ugly. With misbehaving staff, demanding clients, and absent-minded contactors, Jeff’s temper starts to boil over.” Tonight’s episode airs at 7 PM.

Trace Lehnhoff of Jeff Lewis’ Flipping Out – Will Firings Continue?

Posted: August 5th, 2011 in Gage Edward, Jeff Lewis by LALATE

Trace Lehnhoff of Jeff Lewis' Flipping Out - Will Firings Continue

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Will Trace Lehnhoff be Jeff Lewis’ next firing on Flipping Out? Trace Lehnhoff has had few words on this season of Flipping Out, usually sitting in the backseat of Jeff’s Mercedes with a few random remarks (when asked to speak). But now fans are wondering if one, or two, cast members get fired this season. In advance of this season, LALATE reported on a Jeff Lewis news interview in which he suggested which cast member(s) will be fired. So is Trace next on the way out?

“Sorry, but I don’t know what just happened in there” is basically the remark that Gage Edward told Sarah Berkman after she was fired. What? Viewers were shocked by Gage’s line. Gage Edward clearly knew what “just happened in there”.

In advance of Sarah’s layoff, Gage Edward had urged Jeff Lewis to consider firing Sarah Berkman. When Jeff Lewis told Sarah that he is letting her go, the camera pans back and showed Gage Edward watching attentively at that very moment.

So when Gage Edward followed Sarah Berkman outside to her Lexus SUV and said basically, “sorry, but I don’t know what just happened in there”, producers gave viewers perhaps one of the most powerful lines of the season. With that one statement, Gage Edward was no longer just the boring new addition to the cast; he was now either the protagonist or the villain of this season. Gage said he didn’t know what had happened inside. But he had clearly be in conference with Lewis about Sarah’s possible firing, and apparently watched it transpired.

When Edward told Sarah Berkman that her firing was part of some change in corporate restructuring, or realignment, he said it in a way as though he had nothing to do with it. But that is not what viewers were showed. So is Trace next in trouble?

Gage Edward Pictures
Gage Edward Photo 1

In two interviews before this seasons, Lewis said he would never again hire friends nor family and would be skeptical of recently college graduates who want quick promotions.

The peculiar remark by Lewis to news was the following. “These kids that are getting out of college—they want to be VP in three weeks and they don’t know what it takes to be successful,” Lewis said. “These kids that come out of school today—they’re impatient, they’re entitled, they’re not willing to put in the work.” So was Trace, a recent graduate, the subject of Lewis’ remarks?

One reader this week writes about the bizarre dynamic that Gage is bringing to this show.  “It is pretty clear …. when he [Gage] is pushing Lewis to fire Berkman then Gage walks Berkman out after the firing and pretends like he doesn’t know why she got fired. Gage knew exactly what was up and he was behind it.”

The bigger question, however, is why are producers giving so much airtime to Gage each week, when the dynamic between Jeff and Jenni Pulos is what viewers truly love.
