LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Jeff Lewis on Flipping Out fires Jenni Pulos? At least that’s what Bravo wants fans to believe. This season, Jenni Pulos has been insulted by Stacey Farish; Jenni has watched as Jeff Lewis’ boyfriend, Gage Edward, has sought to fire virtual the entire cast; and Jenni has been told by Chaz Dean that she needs to become a WEN girl and remove her hair extensions.
But tonight, does Jenni get fired? The clip suggesting that Jenni is on the firing block is a bit unbelievable. On BravoTv.com, Pulos even tells news and fans “Next week a curly-haired head is maybe on the chopping block”.
Jeff meets with Jenni under false pretenses. Of course, since Gage Edward has come on this show, false pretenses is a regular storyline. What you see and what actually transpires are two different things. Gage told Sarah he didn’t know why she was fired, while he pursued her termination. Gage acted like he didn’t want Jett to be fired, when he had voted for his removal.
In fact, strangely enough, when you look at BravoTv.com, of “Bios” for cast members for this season, guess whose name and face appears first for Flipping Out? One guess – it’s not Jeff Lewis.
When the season started, there seven cast members. Now there are five (including Jeff). If Jenni was fired, there would be basically no reason to watch Flipping Out ever again. “What is this big date about?” Jenni asks Jeff tonight. “I know you wouldn’t ask me out unless there is angle.”
Jeff responds “There is not angle, I wanted to thank you for stepping up, for working four days a week for me… I’m grateful, and that’s one part of this dinner.”
Because without missing a heartbeat, Jeff jumps from thanking Jenni to telling her she is completely replaceable. “I started looking for a replacement”. He then tells Jenni “she is a bit older [than you] and doesn’t have distractions.” He adds “she is not pursuing another career, not dating anyone, and doesn’t have pets.”
Jenni is about to laugh and responds “is dating someone a distraction?” Yes, Jeff doesn’t think his dating Gage has been a distraction this season. Edward has been a terrible distraction to Flipping Out this season.
Jeff responds to Jenni “Yes, dating, that is a distraction in my book … Before I made her an offer I wanted to see if u wanted to come back in a full time basis …. I would need a commitment from you.”
Jenni gets furious and says “I get a little upset when you tell me I haven’t been committed to you.” Jeff then uses the bizarre words “we are in a situation now, this is not a threat …if I have to hire someone else, you will most likely be let go.”
Flipping Out’s season finale is tonight. Bravo has yet to indicate if the show will be back for another season. Between season three and season four, Flipping Out’s overall ratings skyrocketed. This season, ratings haven’t improved at the same rate.
It remains unclear how much Bravo is attentive to fan reactions. But this season fans have disliked Stacey Farish and Gage Edward. Most fans have been critical of Bravo’s decision to lower Pulos’ on-screen airtime and increase Gage Edward, who is probably the most boring personality on Bravo currently.
Jeff’s nuisances and comedic mannerisms have been lost this season. The question is whether Flipping Out will be lost in next season’s Bravo lineup as well.
