A fire is breaking in FONTANA right now, just east of Los Angeles. LALATE has the latest on the Fontana Fire!

The Fontana Fire has burnt 100 acres of San Bernandino County, Rancho Cucamonga in its path. Fontana’s blazes went up Wednesday fueled by 30 mph winds that were ripping through the mountain and canyon paths.

Now, Rancho Cucamonga is in the Fontana Fire’s possible path.

The fire is north of Interstate 15 and has caused evacuate of a Buddhist Temple. No homes or structures lost, no evacuation centers declared.

Santa Ana winds have picked up yet again this week after a break from recent fires this October in Southern California.

Fires were spreading now in San Diego. The worry: this current San Diego Fire 2008 location is the same as the horrific San Diego Fires of 2007. But the good news - report that the San Diego fires are contained.

A San Diego City fire spokesman said that the blaze that went up today Tuesday was in Rancho Bernardo. But after two air tankers, two helicopters and five fire engines, the fire was put out!

The result - no injuries, no damage. The cause of the fire: again under investigation.

Good news on the Campo Fire burning near Oceanside.

The Campo Fire, also called the Shockey Fire, is 50% contained as of this morning.

Here are the latest details on the Campo Shockey Fire for Tuesday October 14.

The Campo Fire is 50% contained after scorching acres. 1500 homes have been evacuated as the blaze burned on both sides of the 94.

The Campo Fire is also names as the Shockey Fire since it started west of the Shockey Truck Trail Tuesday morning after 3 am. It moved fast - burning 100 acres in one hour! 

That was until firefighters fought back and beat this blaze.

Reports say no structures have been lost after 40 engines, four air tankers, and three helicopters (among other support) smashed this blaze wet doing a super amazing job.

Evacuation centers are:
Mountain Empire High School at 3305 Buckman Springs Road in Pine Valley
Potrero Library at 24883 Potrero Valley Road.

Fires are spreading toward Granada Hills as the Porter Ranch (Sesnon) Fire threatens homes to the south.

Two blazes are threatening the Granada Hills and Porter Ranch areas as of 9 am PST here. From the Granada Hills Fires, to across the southland, LALATE NEWS has the latest on the Southern California Fires, Tuesday October 14.

Two fires are threatening Granada Hills and Porter Ranch homes, while the Marek Fire is reportedly slowly.

The Sesnon Fire (also called the Porter Ranch Fire) is still burning. It has no containment. It started 10:30 a.m. Monday on Oat Mountain and has taken 5,000 acres.

So far, total loss is one life and 49 structures. The greatest fear - that the fire could reach the Pacific Ocean 15 miles away.

“This fire has the potential to move from where it is now . . . perhaps as far as Pacific Coast Highway,” said Los Angeles County Fire Chief Michael Freeman late yesterday in a statement.

The Marek Fire (also called the Lake View Terrace Fire) has destroyed 30 to 55 mobile homes, killed one man, and is less than 5% contained, taking 4,726 acres.

Oceanside is now threatening by (yet another) Camp Pendleton Fire.

This the second Pendleton fire reported here in a week. Now Oceanside is in the path of a spreading fire.

The Pendleton fire has taken 1,500 acres.

The fire is threatening homes on Vandegrift Boulevard. Residents in those surroundings are under mandatory evacuation.

The fire is move south and started shortly around 3 pm PST.

Evacuations also include homes on:
Papagallo Drive
Alexandrine Court

Evacuation Center:
El Camino High School at 400 Rancho Del Oro Drive.

Now Newport Beach has fires! Now Orange County’s Newport Beach coast is going up in fires.

LALATE NEWS has the latest on the Newport Beach fire.

The fire has placed homeowners on Hilltop Drive near the San Joaquin Reservoir in Newport Beach on evacuation tonight.

Fires that went up near Bonita Canyon in Newport Beach are reportedly now under control. An estimated 100 acres have burned in the Newport Beach fire after the blaze started shortly pass 3 pm PST.

The location significant hit includes the 73 Freeway near Bonita Canyon.

No damages have been taken as of now. Meantime the Tustin Foothills fire has been put on.

As of 5 pm, homes east of San Miguel Drive are now also being evacuated.

CSUN Cancels Classes FIRES


CSUN Cal State Northridge cancels classes - but until when? CSUN has cancelled classes due to the Los Angeles fires. But which days will CSUN be closed by the Fire?

As of right now, bad news for the students - only Monday off. Why?

Here is the official statement from CSUN for Monday:

“Cal State Northridge officials have cancelled afternoon and evening classes for Monday, Oct. 13, because of concerns about air quality and freeway closures due to the fires in the northeast San Fernando Valley. University offices, the library and bookstore will remain open.

“The campus community is advised to monitor the university’s Web site, www.csun.edu. For emergency information, CSUN faculty and staff can call 1-866-535-2786 and students can call 1-866-515-2786.

“Further information regarding classes for Tuesday, Oct. 14, will be released later today.”

Yet, as of 6 pm PST, still no statement about Tuesday, despite the continuing spread of the neighboring fires.
