Funeral services have been set for this weekend. Royal Marshall’s memorial will be open to the public at Ray of Hope Christian Church, confirms his family to news. The service is at 11 am Saturday January 22.

Local reports state that Raymond Royal Marshall complained of discomfort on Friday. Inside his Atlanta home Friday, he reportedly felt ill, motioning for a glass water. He began to walk to his restroom where he collapsed of a heart attack. He could not be revived.

Royal Marshall is survived by his wife, two daughters, and countless fans of over 17 years. Belina Skelton and Boortz remembered Marshall this week.

“There are no words available to express my personal sense of loss at the passing of Royal Marshall,” Boortz said in a statement to news.  “It’s no stretch to say that I loved that man like he was my own brother.  Royal had an unmatched sense of humor and a quick mind that made him a natural for radio, and his dedication to his colleagues and friends was only exceeded by his intense dedication to his family.  Our program, WSB Radio and the entire Cox family has lost part of its very soul this day.”

Donnie Simpson Morning Show 95.5 WPGC

Yes, Donnie Simpson’s Morning Show ends its 95.5 WPGC run. Donnie Simpson’s Morning Show on 95.5 WPGC is over after 16 years.

But Donnie Simpson is not over. He’s just going on a break for 13 1/2 months pursuant to a non compete clause with his WPGC’s parent, CBS Radio.

After that, where will Simpson broadcast from? He can’t tell you know. But he will tell you in February 2011.

It all reportedly stems from a breakdown in contract talks with WPGC ending a two decade run of the Donnie Simpson Morning Show on the channel.

As broke earlier on LALATE Friday, Simpson was with 93.9 WKYS for 16 years and WPGC since 1993.

But, Local NBC reports that Simpson has a 13 1/2 months non-compete clause with CBS Radio. But once that time has elapsed, Simpson is expected to announce his new home. Simpson tells NBC:”This is a temporary separation until February 2011.”

Donnie won’t be gone for long.

Erica Lee Fired!

Erica Lee Fired

Erica Lee Fired!

Erica Lee is fired from Mix 105.1’s “Scott and Erica Morning Show”!

Eric Lee’s firing was ends a 2 decade run that many listeners aren’t happy with today. Scott will remain on air in the same position. Moments ago, McKenzie told listeners that 19 years was one of the best runs in radio, anywhere. Scott said he knew it wouldn’t last forever but the end is something “surreal”.

The team became a staple of Central Florida morning drive radio. Channel 2 CBS Orlando readers are voicing today split decisions whether they would stay as listeners now to MIX, or leave.

One wrote the following:

“I am so sad over this…I will continue to listen to and support Scott and Jay, but I’m going to miss Erica terribly. What a horrible decision the management has made. Thinking about you Erica…”

Another put it differently:

It appears that the Bean Counters have one another round. But then again appearances can be deceiving. I listened to the Scott and Erica Morning Show because it, to me, was family. As I can see that’s really no longer the case and it really is money motivated I can no longer support that station after knowing how they treat their staff. Erica – Good luck you deserve better than you got. Scott and Jay – RUN!!! …. And those who made the decision…Good luck too. Remember one word…Karma. She’s coming after you next.”
