Russell Brand VMA VIDEO!

Posted on September 8th, 2008 in Britney Spears, George Bush, Jonas Brothers, Russell Brand, VMA, VMAs, Video Music Awards by lalate

Russell

VIDEO! Watch the VMAs video of Russell Brand calling George Bush a “retard cowboy”, making fun of Jonas Brothers purity rings, and calling Britney Jesus Christ. Bush a “retard”?

Do you think Russell Brand as a comic using “retard” for a laugh in an awards show was appropriate?

“Retard” has no place in a comic’s routine for the opening of any awards show, period.

“Please, America, elect Barack Obama. On behalf of the world. Some people, I think they’re called racists, say America is not ready for a black president. But I know America to be a forward-thinking country because otherwise why would you have let that retard and cowboy fella be president for eight years?”

“We thought it was nice of you to let him have a go, because in England he wouldn’t be trusted with a pair of scissors.”

On Britney Spears: “Consider this the resurrection of Britney Spears. If there was a female Christ, it’s Britney.”

On purity rings: ‘I’ve got to say sorry because I said them things about promise rings. So promise rings, I’m well up for it, well done everyone. It’s just that a bit of sex occasionally never hurt anybody.”

The LA Times says of the show: “The 2008 VMAs were poised to mark the return of Britney Spears. Instead, they will go down in history as the night when that English guy from Forgetting Sarah Marshall almost made the Jonas Brothers cry.”

Watch Russell Brand’s VMAs video below.

Britney Spears Sarah Palin!

Posted on September 8th, 2008 in Britney Spears, Kanye West, Sarah Palin, VMA, VMAs by lalate

Britney Spears Sarah Palin

Britney Spears is no match for Sarah Palin! Britney Spears at the VMAs did not knock off Sarah Palin as most read person on LALATE NEWS.

The VMAs was the largest media event since the RNC Convention. But despite complete coverage of the VMAs on LALATE, Britney Spears and the VMAs did not pull in more readers than Sarah Palin on LALATE for more than 1 hour during and after broadcast.

But someone did.

Kanye West and “Love Lockdown”, a single broke by LALATE days before the VMAs, posted the only readership numbers significantly above Palin. In fact, Love Lockdown posted the highest 1/2 hour readership numbers for any story since spring on LALATE. Love Lockdown is the first single off Kanye’s next album.

But by night fall, Palin was back on top.

The music video of Piece of Me was not without trouble back when it was recorded. Chris Brown won male video of the year for “With You,” Pussycat Dolls won best dancing in a video with “When I Grow Up”.

Other winners:
Linkin Park best rock video for “Shadow of the Day.”
