Madden 12 Curse for Peyton Hills Prompts Debate

Madden 12 Curse for Peyton Hills Prompts Debate

ST LOUIS (LALATE) – The Madden 12 Curse debate heated up today with all eyes on Peyton Hills. The Madden Curse is detailed extensively following the announced release date of Madden 12 featuring Hills on the cover. The Madden Curse, in fact, is covered extensively across football news today with Sports Illustrated even doing a thirteen page retrospective report on the Madden Curse. But does the Curse even exist?

As stated in news today, the Curse represents the allleged “phenomenon where whomever is on the cover of the game suffers at least a season, if not a career, collapse.” The curse detailed here, however, hasn’t necessarily leave up to its reputation. In fact, in some years, cover stars had lackluster seasons without injuries. In other years, the cover athlete had a one or two game injury, certainly nothing indicative of a curse or a career changing hit.

In fact, in recent years, the news coverage of the curse has been more like a YouTube reaction to a Susan Boyle performance. In each of the last two seasons, whenever a cover athlete is hit and carted off the field during a NFL game, news broadcaster in domino fashion begin to pull out their vuvuzelas and announce the curse has returned. Nothing could be further from the truth.

For Madden 10, Larry Fitzgerald and Troy Polamalu shared the cover. That season both athletes took a hit. Immediately news exclaimed the Curse was alive. But Troy was only out a mere two games with an ankle injury. He returned to final game of the season against the Browns and delivered a stunning interception. In January 2011, he went on to earn AP Defensive Player of the Year.

Larry Fitzgerald suffered an injury during his Madden cover season. But it wasn’t a season ending injury. In fact, the thumb injury had first manifested itself at least two years before the Madden cover.

Madden 2011 Madden 11 Curse!

Madden 2011 Madden 11 Curse

CURSE?! The Madden 11 (Madden 2011) hasn’t yet shipped but a Madden 11 Curse is already going viral. Will there be a Madden 11 Curse for Drew Brees? After some believe a Madden 10 (2010) curse struck Larry Fitzgerald and Troy Polamalu, the question remains – is there a curse, or is this an over action for a contact sport?

Brees says he’s happy about his new cover.

“I think the atmosphere of a game, where you step out on the field and you hear the crowd noise is really special. Then when you throw a touchdown and run into that end zone and jump on a teammate … that interaction and that atmosphere is obviously something where you have to be there to feel.

“But to me, being in ‘Madden’ is just another way to connect with the fans. It helps educates the fans about the plays, the players, the teams. I have a Wii, and when my son gets older, it’s going to be fun to be able to play the game together. I have a feeling he’s going to be a gamer pretty soon.”

Reggie Bush – Barely Top 10 for Fantasy Football

Posted: August 22nd, 2007 in Celebrities, Entertainment, Madden, NFL, Reggie Bush by LALATE

For some, the season is getting your haircut down like Zac Efron’s. For others, it’s getting your rankings down for fantasy football.

Fantasy football is a breed unique to its own, as Gene Wojciechowski writes in a great article for EPSN.

But in the world of celebrities, Reggie Bush is hardly in the top 10 so far for Fantasy Football rankings of RBs. What, the? !

Sheil Kapadia of the Baltimore Sun puts Reggie Bush only at number 10 in Fantasy Football

“As a rookie, he averaged just 3.6 yards per carry and had just one 100-yard rushing performance. So why do I have him ranked so high? Bush caught 88 balls for 742 yards and was great in the second half. He had two 100-yard receiving games and one 100-yard rushing game in the season’s final five weeks. All eight of Bush’s touchdowns came after Week 10, and he averaged 4.8 yards per carry in the second half of the season. Put quite simply, Bush improved as he began to figure out NFL defenses and is a great fantasy option because of his ability as a receiver.”

AP / USA Today puts Bush at a mere 14.

“14. Reggie Bush, New Orleans: 565 yards and 6 TDs rushing (3.6 yards per carry), 742 yards and 2 TDs receiving. Got off to shaky rookie year, but had TD or 100 yards in four of last five games. (Take him higher if your league awards points for receptions.) How does everyone seem to agree?”

LaDainian Tomlinson, San Diego Chargers at the number one spot.

Move over Paris and Britney. This week is all Madden!

This week is owned by Madden 08 that has caused a craziness as it arrives in stores tomorrow (not that you are actually going to get it on the 14th unless you camp out).
