Jean Smart’s won big tonight at the Emmys. Jean Smart took a win tonight with Jeremy Piven in the supporting actor category, as broke earlier by LALATE.

Jean Smart stars in Samatha Who? and most LALATE readers will probably remember her from that amazing sitcom Designing Women.

Smart won for best supporting actress in a comedy series at the 60th Emmy Awards tonight from Los Angeles. “I’m very proud to be an actor,” Smart said.

Initial reaction to the opening of the show has been close to dismal.

Of course, back again is Ryan Seacrest. Who the world hired him again?

Last year, Ryan Seacrest hosted the Emmys to an all ratings time low, an estimated 12.87 million, down 19% over the previous year, the second worse telecast in history.

Jeremy Piven wins an EMMY! Jeremy Piven is the Emmy Awards Winner for best supporting comedy actor moments ago. Piven won for “Entourage” while Jean Smart of “Samantha Who?” took the award for a female.

Zeljko Ivanek of “Damages” and Dianne Wiest of “In Treatment” have won for supporting actors for a drama series.

Wiest is currently on Broadway in All my Sons that has received incredible reviews broke here on LALATE.

“These are strange times for all of us. To be a working actor is an unbelievable gift. None of this is lost on me,” Piven said in his acceptance.

Someone arrived at the Emmys with a rifle, an air rifle! Three people arrived with a rifle in their limo at the 2008 Emmy Awards. And no, the rifle was not planted for a great joke just before intermission.

The rifle was found during a routine car check while dropping off Emmy arrivals. Who’s limo was it? So far no details. But three people were in the car and detained. No arrests are pending.

Other people arriving when the armed limo got stopped reportedly had to take cover behind a guarded area, even though the air rifle is about the strength of a BB gun.

Longoria Parker has added weight reportedly for the role of Gabby who has some changes in the new season of Housewives. Housewives costar, Felicity Huffman, recently joked the following about Eva and her baby bump rumors:

“She’s just fat, that’s all there is to it!”

Longoria and Tony Parker have said they do want to have kids. Eva appeared above in the Bebe sport photo shoot just a few months back, one of the hottest sport photo spreads ever. Big or small, Eva is always so hot.
