Janet Jackson Def Jam Problems

Posted on June 7th, 2008 in Def Jam, Janet Jackson by lalate

Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson is having problems with new label, Def Jam.

Janet Jackson reports this week that she is not in agreement with Def Jam even as to what would be her next single. Ouch.

“That’s pretty difficult to say, only because of the record label at this point,” Jackson tells SOHH. “We started off with “Feedback” and the label and myself haven’t quite seen eye to eye since the “Feedback” single so they’ve kind of basically stopped all promotion. I’m trying to figure out a way to say this, but just to say it and to be quite honest, they just stopped all promotion whatsoever on the album so I don’t think you’re going to hear another single off this album.”

Reportedly, her European tour has been on hold. “I just want to let the fans know because I’ve been reading a lot what the bloggers have been saying about the record and not hearing it on the radio and stuff like that, so I just wanted to let them know where things were as well and where it was all coming from. I’ve heard people talking about me not coming to Europe in support of the record just to let them know that it was definitely in my heart to go to Europe and to support this album but it’s about teamwork, it’s not something I can totally do on my own,” she said. “Unfortunately things have turned out the way that they have with the differences between the label and myself, which we have been having for the most part from the beginning. So I just want to tell them again thank you very much for all the love and all the support and I they understand the entire situation and I’m really excited to see everybody on tour. I’m really looking forward to that it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

If you remember, online chatter had previously placed Jackson and boyfriend Jermaine Dupri unhappy with her last label (Virgin) and its promotion of her previous album “20 Y.O”. That album dropped 74% in sales its second week with insiders saying “Jermaine blames Virgin for not getting it enough radio play, not working it”.

LL Cool J I Cry

Posted on May 22nd, 2008 in Lil' Mo, LL Cool J, Def Jam by lalate

LL Cool J

LL Cool J and Lil’ Mo will have a HUGE HIT on their hands with “I Cry”. Trust LALATE on this one.LL Cool J and Lil’ Mo deliver one of the best songs LALATE has heard this year in “I Cry”.

The single is off LL Cool J’s upcoming album Exit 13. The album drops July 8th.

Back in 2006, LL had said this album would be last with Def Jam, the only label he has ever been with. Some reports say the album will feature production by 50 Cent.

With the album reported to drop in just two months, hopefully they increase the promotion for it, because this sound is amazing and should be a huge hit if handled right.

LL Cool J has always been one of LALATE’s favorite performers, in every respect of the word, from his body of work to how he presents himself. This is definitely album you will need to buy.

Def Jam Diet!

Posted on May 18th, 2008 in Beyonce, Young Jeezy, Jermaine Dupri, Def Jam, Jay Z, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey by lalate

A few days ago, LALATE told you that we are going on the Def Jam Diet! And only LALATE has the skinny on what exactly the Def Jam Diet is.

The chatter sto;; online today has been about the Def Jam Diet, a more guarded secret than a potluck dinner at Scientology. The Post claims that, even though her hubby is no longer at Def Jam, Beyonce normally does the Def Jam detox.” “She has gained a lot of pregnancy weight,” a source said. “When she gains weight, she normally does the Def Jam detox, but not now.””

Online rumors are that Beyonce must be pregnant if she is not on the Def Jam Diet.

What is the Def Jam diet?

While some say it’s related to the “master cleanse” diet developed by Stanley Burroughs in 1941, LALATE disagrees.

The Def Jam diet is basically dancing 1 hour a day to “Shake it Off” … but it only works when you do the Young Jeezy extended remix to the Mariah Carey track.

Jermaine Dupri needs to make a YouTube about the Def Jam Diet! Tell him LALATE said so!

50 Cent on Kayne

Posted on August 31st, 2007 in Def Jam, Kayne West, 50 Cent by lalate

“Its not possible for Kanye to beat me, I don’t know why I said that. Its like the teddy bear vs. the gorilla. Def Jam [West’s label] is going to buy about 200,000 of Kanye’s records. Kanye sucks, I’m going to be honest, he sounds like a robot, he has a robot record.”
