LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Mariah Carey has given birth to twins. Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon welcomed twin babies today – a boy and a girl – on the couple’s third wedding anniversary. Carey, 41, and Cannon, 30, confirmed the news via Twitter today.

“Born, April 30th at 12:07pm ET. Mommy, Daddy & #dembabies are all doing fine!” wrote a rep for the singer today on Twitter. “Congratulations to Mariah & Nick on the birth of #dembabies!!”

Cannon later twitted himself “My wife just gave me the most incredible anniversary gift ever in life!” Cannon added “I won’t ever be able to top this!”

The couple was calm during the delivery. But Cannon’s rep confirmed the reality TV host was a bit frantic first, going to the wrong room in the hospital prior to delivery.

Carey first fueled reports of twins when she told a news interviewer that she sang Christmas songs during her pregnancy. She added “I just hope that they don’t turn out hating Christmas!”

For LALATE readers, Mariah Carey twins reports first surfaced months ago. LALATE first reported that Carey was pregnant with twins and had begun renovating two bedrooms into adjoining nurseries in her estate.

Nick Cannon has yet to comment about the reports twittering “Be the FUTURE. Make HISTORY today!” Last weekend, he added “So much to be thankful for. I have been overwhelmed with blessings I truly believe to who much is given much is required Happy thanksgiving”

Carey’s new album was released last month. As reported in September on LALATE, HSN is set to promote the project with on air appearances by Carey. The Merry Christmas II You album will also be offered as a DVD with packaging shot by David LaChapelle. Earlier this hour, Carey twittered “HSN [is now featuring live] Mariah .. for the Cyber Monday premiere of her new lifestyle collection!”

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Mariah Carey is pregnant with twins?  A Mariah Carey twin baby birth is expected later this year, claims a new report Thursday.

While Mariah Carey pregnant reports are now new, today’s double revelation is certainly new.  Carey pregnancy reports recently heated up after Mariah exited an upcoming film production. Earlier this week, much the same reports that have been used by magazines for Khloe Kardashain are now being used for Carey.

But today, a new twist.

The Enquirer reports today that Mariah Carey is in fact pregnant with twins. Mariah, 41, and Nick, 29, reportedly had been visiting Beverly Hills based Southern California Reproductive Center, claims the paper. The publication also claims Carey and Cannon have recently renovated two bedrooms into adjoining nurseries.

As has been the trend so far the last few years, online gossip sites have been the first to run the details of celebrity pregnancies, never confirmed by the celebrities. Stars hold out for structured exclusives in print magazines.

But don’t think that Mariah or Khloe’s pregnancy reports will only hit one magazine. While celebrities grant exclusives typically to one magazine (or two, such as U.S. vs England), competing magazines will run non exclusives, sometimes weeks in advance. While Mariah and Kardashian-Odom have yet to confirm, don’t expect that news to be released until hours before the exclusive hits newsstands.
