Sarah Palin Ratings!

Posted on September 4th, 2008 in RNC Convention, Sarah Palin, DNC Convention by lalate

Palin Ratings

Sarah Palin’s ratings last night were HUGE! Sarah Palin’s ratings for her RNC Convention speech were higher than Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and, often Barack Obama, says new ratings reports.

Huge numbers are coming in today less than 24 hours after Sarah Palin’s RNC speech that featured adorable moments with Piper Palin and Tig Palin, appearances by Britsol Palin and boyfriend Levi, and more. TV Week says Palin pulled a 5.4 rating/8 share on NBC with fellow speakers.

How high is that? For this year, Palin and Co. were “higher than any other night of the convention on the broadcast networks, including Sen. Obama’s nomination acceptance speech on Aug. 28.” The ratings reportedly are subject to change.

And who had the most online coverage of both the DNC and RNC Conventions? LALATE!

fyi - Thanks to all the great comments being sent to us about LALATE’s complete coverage of both conventions. Equal coverage - complete information. Because of you, LALATE is set to enter the top 2,000 website online in just a few weeks. Let’s do it!

Cindy McCain Dress!

Cindy McCain Dress

PICTURE! Here’s a photo of Cindy McCain’s yellow RNC Convention dress. Who do you prefer - Cindy McCain’s yellow dress or Michelle Obama’s blue DNC number?

Days ago, LALATE brought you details about Micelle Obama’s dress, the designer, the preparations. (In fact, that was a very popular story on LALATE.) Those LALATE details came directly from the female local designer herself, even explaining the creative process.

Today, Vanity Fair runs details about what Cindy McCain’s yellow number cost but with no verification of these details from McCain’s camp. Vanity Fair says McCain wore Oscar de la Renta.

Here is what the magazine believes was the breakdown.

“Cindy McCain
Oscar de la Renta dress: $3,000
Chanel J12 White Ceramic Watch: $4,500
Three-carat diamond earrings: $280,000
Four-strand pearl necklace: $11,000–$25,000
Shoes, designer unknown: $600
Total: Between $299,100 and $313,100″

Depsite whether Vanity is correct or not, who did you prefer? … talking fashion, not politics of course. How about that yellow collar?

Rudy Giuliani DNC VIDEO

VIDEO! Watch video of Rudy Giuliani’s DNC Convention Speech tonight. Rudy Giuliani DNC speech included the following excerpts:

“John has been tested. Barack Obama has not…. Tough times require strong leadership, and this is no time for on-the-job training.”

Rudy said of Sarah Palin “She’s already had more executive experience than the entire Democratic ticket combined. I’m sorry that Barack Obama feels that her hometown isn’t cosmopolitan enough. … Maybe they cling to religion there.”

Watch Rudy Giuliani’s DNC Video below.

Jennifer Hudson DNC VIDEO

Jennifer Hudson DNC VIDEO

VIDEO! Watch video of Jennifer Hudson singing the national anthem at the DNC Convention to introduce Barack Obama tonight. Hudson’s signing at the Democratic National Convention was first broke to you earlier this week by LALATE who is a huge J Hud fan.

Can you possibly get anyone better to sing this song than J Hud? Probably not.

Barack Obama personally requested J Hud to perform on Thursday Night. You can’t disagree with Obama on this one!

LALATE hearts J Hud bigtime. And watching her sing this song particularly … oh my!

Watch Jennifer Hudson singing at the DNC in the video below! So, so good.

Bill Clinton DNC VIDEO!

Bill Clinton DNC VIDEO

VIDEO! Watch the video of Bill Clinton’s speech at the DNC last night. Former President Bill Clinton spoke to the Democratic National Convention last night. Of course, the highlight of the entire day truly was Hillary Clinton who suspended voting on the floor and told the floor to cast all votes for Barack Obama.

Bill Clinton said in his speech:

“I want all of you who supported her to vote for Barack Obama in November.”

“Republicans said I was too young and too inexperienced to be commander in chief. Sound familiar? It didn’t work in 1992, because we were on the right side of history. And it won’t work in 2008, because Barack Obama is on the right side of history.”

If you missed the speech, or want to simply watch it again, below is the video.

Maria Pinto Dresses!

Maria Pinto Michelle Obama Dress

PICTURE! Here is a photo of the Maria Pinto Michelle Obama dress from last night. Maria Pinto’s design for dresses is what everyone is talking about today after Obama wore for the DNC’s opener a teal v neck line dress by Pinto.

The dress is simple, with a longer hem length.

Most everyone is happy with the dress today. The cuts are tight and understated, but the dress is upbeat in color. Many are saying the dress was a homerun from Pinto.

Maria Pinto is local Chicago designer. In fact, Maria was smart. She opened a shop in Chicago’s West Lopp just this month sensing publicity from last night. Pinto has reportedly been designing for Obama for sometime.

What do you think of the dress?

John Legend If You’re Out There!

Posted on August 25th, 2008 in DNC Convention, Barack Obama, John Legend by lalate

John Legend If You're Out There

EXCLUSIVE. John Legend will give a performance of “If You’re Out There” tonight at the Democratic National Convention DNC. But Billboard has messed up by calling Legend’s “If You’re Out There” a “new song” that will “debut” for the convention. LALATE research has revealed that is totally incorrect.

And yet Legend wants you to buy it on iTunes after he peforms it.

What is going on here?

Billboard says today: “NEW YORK (Billboard) - Soul singer John Legend will debut a new song, “If You’re Out There,” at Monday night’s (August 25) opening session of the Democratic National Convention at Denver’s Pepsi Center.”

Only problem, the song is not new, and this is not even the debut of the song for Obama’s campaign. So who came up with this press for tonight, Legend’s camp or just a bad article at Billboard? A 10 second search of Youtube would have revealed that Legend has been performing this song (for Obama’s campaign no less) since early April 2008. It’s not a new song. And it’s not a debut for Obama.

The Billboard article goes on to give you links where to get the song on iTunes after seeing it tonight at the DNC.

What’s going on here?

According to a statement for Legend, the song is an “anthemic call-to-action and evocation of human potential.”

LALATE luvs Legend. But watch below the not new song “If Youre Out There” performed by Legend months ago for Obama.
